What are you doing today, II

This past Monday afternoon, I got word that a woman who used to work at the same nursing facility as me (in Delphos) was shot and killed by her husband.

He shot her 3 times , then took his own life.
While the grandsons were there.
That totally sickened me to the core.
It's taken many of us who knew her well, DAYS to come to terms with this.
Doubt I ever will.
She has an obit in the paper.
His is NOT.

Wow. I have no words. Sorry for the pain you're feeling 😞
Thanks Brian.
When I went to work the following night, I couldn't think straight.
That feeling of being sick to your stomach and sad was almost more than I could handle.
I will not be attending the service.
Friends and I from Delphos have gone together to send a nice floral arrangement.
In such a small town, where everyone knows each other, this was a shock.

our suburban has a full tank of gas leaking fuel pump line rusted at the pump i looked at the options drain the tank (38 gallons) and drop it??? or do the surgery on floor to do it with out dropping the tank cutting the floor. i had a heck of a time getting rusted lock ring off finally got it pulled the pump put new one in tested it i have to patch the floor yet but if its needed it can run.
in the process my wife calls the new to us car broke down she gets it towed home new alternator new battery when it gets home and i jump it it runs getting 10.8v at battery that's not right next car project is finding that problem im guessing bad ground or maybe a bad new alternator????

Off to emergency vehicle driver training class tomorrow and and driving test sunday to see what's changed in 20 years since I last took it.

I'm at camp alone for the weekend. It's raining now. I'm going to be helping out a buddy building an outdoor kitchen later on if it stops. I did attempt to get out bird hunting yesterday but that was a failure due to mechanical issues with the sxs. I detailed that in my cfmoto thread.

8 year old battery dead on my winter beater ml350. Got a NAPA battery. Put it in. Starter is locked up; been sitting since the last snow. Locked up solid; can't turn it. So a new starter will be here at 430 pm. Very easy replacement. FL tire off. Inter fender off. State is right there.
I had purchased a large lot of new Mercedes V12 parts from somebody cheap for my SL600. There is a starter in there, but specs are different. Oh well. 190 bucks.

Getting ready for winter and cleaning up outside.
Brought 2 full cord of wood to the house side of the creek (the primary woodshed is across a creek that's hard to go through in the winter).
Leaves, leaves, leaves...
Mowing and weed eating most of the summer plants.
General outside chores. It's bone dry here so tasks like moving leaves is very easy yet incredibly dusty.

Intermittent rain here,
I'm done with the paneling inthe shop and have set shelving. Now I have to sort all the hardware and organize it on the shelves.
Geez I have a lot of nails and screws!
I might put a LOWES Annex sign on the door.

Got all the vibration out of my Tucker....... but now it won't shift into reverse. I can get under it with the engine off and PUT IT in reverse, (it's old... it will start in gear)..... so I CAN USE reverse..... but the shifter linkage is obviously out of alignment, now.

..... GRRrrr. (One thing after another).

Put the starter in this morning. Took longer to put the inner fender on and torque the wheel. I did the entire job sitting on an old office chair. EZ

It's finally happening! One of our five children living at home is apparently getting an apartment with his gf (who he's been dating for a year now but we haven't met yet). We'll see how this turns out.

What that means for me is a bedroom gutt and new paint and flooring in his bedroom. Then our youngest son will move downstairs to his room and my wife will take over the bedroom on the main floor as an office. She works from home 2 days a week and has only had a smaller desk in our bedroom to work from.

Chiropractor this morning. Followed by another trip to the tire shop to get new tires installed on my wife's expedition. Home to do some hashing on the bathroom design and ordering fixtures. Next will be a trip to a few tile places in the city to pick out flooring, countertop, and shower tiles.
Wow! Your day sounds really busy. Hope everything goes smoothly with all the tasks

Picking up Dasha from the airport to bring her home. She is flying home thru Istanbul because there is a flight ban preventing her from coming thru Germany. It adds 4 hours to her flight to get home this way. But as a non-citizen she is not allowed to travel thru an EU nation, or the UK, due to Covid restrictions

She tested Negative before getting on the flight, wearing a mask the entire flight, but the US won’t let her fly thru restricted nations because she doesn’t have a US passport.

Tomorrow we take her back to Notre Dame

Oh wow! Glad everything turned out fine and she wasn’t as frail as you thought. Hope you stay comfortable wearing the brace for the next few days.

Jury duty. Jury selection on. Went home for lunch. Going back shortly. Trial to last until next Tuesday. I haven't been in the box yet. The original 14 are still being questioned.

Have fun in the jury box.

Ran a couple errands this morning. Refilled the softener with salt. It was an easier task when I was half this age.

The lovely Mrs_Bob is cooking some burgers on the grill. Afterwards I'll be climbing on the tractor to move some dirt. Too wet to mow. But I have a planter that needs dirt and I mixed the ask pile from the bonfire with some nice black topsoil and organic matter. It should make for a decent planting medium for the raised flower bed where I intend to dump it. Might have to amend it but at least I can fill it.

Fencing tonight. I'm showing up. But no plans to 'actively' coach unless I see something totally egregious from some of the younger/newer fencers.

Yesterday, I took a saw out to trim a small tree. Before long, I was up to my ass in branches.
Today I get to grind them thru the shredder.
Except, I have a dep cut on my right thumb.
Is that a good enough excuse to hold off?

It's been overcast and a bit rainy today.
I try to take a walk everyday for fitness - whether it be the 3 mile across town and back, or simply a 20 minute trot through Oakwood park.
Had to opt for the park because it began to rain.
This little precious was hidden amongst the trees with Mama.
The deer around here allow most of us to get close. It's almost like they are tame and trust the public.

Jury chosen before they got to me.
Not sure if I gotta call in for another tomorrow, so I'll do that after 530

No jury duty tomorrow, but still have to call back every night.
Forgot to mention, they went through 39 potential jurors to sit 14.
Over half of the rejected ones were clearly liberal and woke. The final jury had no woke ones, at least not recognizable. Both sides also got rid of the Karen's.
Yes, I judge books by their cover.

In truth we often have no other choice.

When I bought the bigg branch crider, I was exited to run it. Now, not so much

It is loud and had to do, even harder to fix when it jams up. Today was not a day to put up with it.

Sick in bed.

Yesterday I was sore and achy, more than normal. Got worse as the day went on. I thought it was arthritis. Progressively worse during the night. Up at 3:30am. Everything hurts. Joints and muscles. No headache. No sore throat. No stomach issues. Just massive amounts of pain. Tramadol and Advil didn’t help.

I also have ragweed allergies. Took a couple NyQuil tablets about 10am, that actually helped.
