Exploding Pagers!! Did Israel just blow the dicks off Hezbollah fighters?

tiredretired

The Old Salt
Seems Israel's Mossad got to the shipment of Hezbollah's pagers and loaded a little surprise in each and every one.

Latest count 8 killed and 2,750 wounded when somebody sent the trigger message to each pager. :lmao:

LOL looks like Israel just took out some more trash.

The Lebanese government has accused Israel of this "attack"

Israel has NOT actually admitted it did anything.

Hezbollah uses old style pagers, with lithium batteries. They do this so that Israel can't intercept cellular or radio communications. Trick is on them. Apparently 'someone' figured out how to make those lithium batteries explode. Thousands of Hezbollah militants have been reported to be have been seriously injured, some dead, many critical injuries, some superficial injuries.

Reported by ZeroHedge, this is a developing story, I've quoted the original story but check the link for updates:

Hezbollah's '9/11': Iranian Ambassador Among 1,000+ Wounded After Israel Remotely Detonates Pagers

Update(1050ET): An eyewitness tells Al Jazeera: "There’s more than 400 men here. Their pagers exploded, the ones they use for communication." There are regional Lebanese media reports of over 1,200 Hezbollah operatives injured.
Reuters is confirming that Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Mojtaba Amani is among the wounded in the series of pager explosions, based on a report in Iran’s Mehr news outlet. Follow up reports say he was only lightly injured. Some of the explosions happened in Syria as well, reports say. There are reports of civilian deaths in Beirut, including children. Some of the explosions happened inside homes, where the pagers were on shelves or bedstands.
An Al Jazeera correspondent writes, "We are talking about hundreds of members of the group in hospitals. We are seeing videos online of injuries to their arms, to their legs, even to their faces." The Lebanese Health Ministry is urging for doctors and nurses to rush to south Beirut hospitals amid a shortage. Reuters is reporting that among the confirmed killed is a Hezbollah Member of Parliament's son, who was part of the armed wing. According to more of the latest:
  • Eight dead, 2,750 injured in Lebanon exploding pagers: minister
  • Health Ministry: 200 people in critical condition
From an alleged Hezbollah source cited in AP and Israeli media:
The official, speaking on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to speak to the media, says the explosions were the result of “a security operation that targeted the devices.”
“The enemy [Israel] stands behind this security incident,” the official says, without elaborating.
He adds that the new pagers that Hezbollah members were carrying have lithium batteries that apparently exploded.
Does this signal the start of a larger anti-Hezbollah campaign? It appears so. And Hezbollah is definitely expected to escalate from its side. This could be the start of a new Lebanon war, bigger in scope that than the 2006 war.
Many will ask: why pagers? A regional correspondent and past ZeroHedgecontributor explains:
Military analyst Elijah Magnier has told Al Jazeera that Hezbollah relies heavily on the so-called pagers to avoid Israel intercepting its members’ communications.
He also suggested that these devices might have been pre-tampered before they were dispersed among Hezbollah members.
“This is not a new system. It has been used in the past,” he said. “So in this case there has been involvement of a third party … to allow access … to remotely activate the explosion,” he said.

An apparent covert Mossad operation has unleashed chaos in a southern Beirut neighborhood on Tuesday, resulting in large-scale casualties among Hezbollah operatives and reportedly Lebanese civilians.
Telecommunications devices used by Hezbollah members began exploding, resulting in up to hundreds wounded in the suburb of Dahiyeh. There appears to be fatalities, according to graphic social media images.
Reuters reports, "Hundreds of members of the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah, including fighters and medics, were seriously wounded on Tuesday when the pagers they use to communicate exploded," according to security sources. Al Jazeera has cited eyewitnesses who say there are over 400 victims at just one hospital.
"A Reuters journalist saw 10 Hezbollah members bleeding from wounds in the southern suburb of Beirut known as Dahiyeh," the report continues.
It is as yet unclear how precisely Israeli intelligence was able to infiltrate Hezbollah's telecoms - whether small bombs were placed in the pagers or possibly the result of some kind of large-scale cyberhack. But what is becoming clear is that they were remotely detonated.
A Hezbollah official was cited anonymously in Reuters, calling the incident the "biggest security breach" the group has ever faced since the start of the nearly-year long conflict with Israel. Groups like Hezbollah often use low-tech devices to communicate with each other, given cell phones are easier for intelligence services to intercept.
"Residents said explosions were taking place even 30 minutes after the initial blasts," the report notes further, citing eyewitnesses. People are also urgently calling for blood donations, given this appears a mass casualty event.
Local hospitals are said to be inundated with victims as well as groups of family members rushing to entrances trying to find out what's going on.
Israel has yet to comment on the apparent covert operation.
A prominent Lebanese and regional war monitor account had this to say...
Most videos are too graphic, but the below shows some of the chaos in the aftermath of the initial explosions.
developing...
Here is a video I found on X. This shows the aftermath of a pager explosion. This pager was apparently sitting in the bedroom, not attached to a terrorist.

Here is another source on Twitter/X that reliably posts about the various wars. It has an actual video of an explosion occurring, another of the aftermath, etc

All jokes about the Hezbollah "Kaboompalooza" aside, this is an interesting case study in dependance upon foreign technology.

How much of our US technology has been 'out sourced' to foreign nations which may not be totally allied with our values?

We know too well what it is like to be dependent upon foreign oil. Our pocketbooks hurt daily from that. We know too well what it is like to be dependent upon foreign fruits and vegetables and fertilizers. But have we really thought much about foreign dependence on technology items, even items as simple as a pager?

Israel is preparing for war. Lebanon is preparing for war.

Lebanon historically has separated itself and its official policies from Hezbollah, which Lebanon basically said was a separatist group occupying the south of Lebanon. But over the past decade or two, Hezbollah has been gaining seats and support inside the coalition government of Lebanon.

So apparently the nation and the terrorist group have now merged? We are hearing from both Lebanese and Hezbollah officials in numerous reports that seem to be echoes.

Update below from ZeroHedge:

War Preparations Build After 9 Killed, 2700+ Wounded In Israel's Pager Attack On Hezbollah

Update(1445ET): Official Lebanese Health Ministry figures are that nine people were killed in the simultaneous pager explosions, including a young girl, and some 2,750 wounded. The Lebanese government has identified "Israeli aggression" as being behind the attack, while Hezbollah also says it holds Israel "fully responsible". Israel has yet to issue official comment, but there are several reports from the region that war preparations are underway. But the border has been surprisingly quiet in the hours after.
Israel's Channel 14 is reporting that "senior Israeli military officials are preparing for a third Hezbollah war which is expected to begin almost immediately." The US State Department has said the US "was not aware of this operation and was not involved" in the attack. The Biden administration says it is "still gathering information".
The WSJ has offered some initial details on the sophisticated attack, which Lebanese and Arabs have condemned as a major 'terror attack'. "The affected pagers were from a new shipment that the group received in recent days, people familiar with the matter said," WSJ writes. "A Hezbollah official said hundreds of fighters had such devices, speculating that malware may have caused the devices to explode. The official said some people felt the pagers heat up and disposed of them before they burst."
And more: "Hezbollah said a number of pagers carried by its members exploded simultaneously at 3:30 p.m. It couldn’t immediately be determined what caused the blasts, which were spread out across the country in several areas where Hezbollah has a heavy presence."
There are initial reports that more European airlines have began cancelling flights to Lebanon and Israel amid more headlines of war plans. Lebanese schools and colleges have announced widespread closures tomorrow. The US administration appears to be standing idly by in the meantime.
War looks imminent

So here I am thinking that Israel, planting explosive devices inside the batteries of pagers, and then getting those pagers into the hands of actual terrorists (Hezbollah is a designated international terrorist organization) is brilliant. Literally this type of attack is targeted to injure the actual fighters who want to destroy Israel. It targets the very people who wish to kill ALL Jews, not just Jewish soldiers but ALL people who are Jewish. It has minimal collateral damage to civilians, it is specifically targeted to injure bad people. Brilliant.

And then, along comes this girl, who clearly says I am wrong. Obviously.

A second wave of exploding communications devices are blowing up more Hezbollah terrorists.

It appears these may be walkie-talkie type radios, possibly handheld shortwave style radios.

Ironically this video was apparently shot at a funeral for a Hezbollah terrorist.

And here in buildings in Lebanon

And more and more...

And even more....

All Israel wants is to be left alone.

All Israel wants is to be left alone.
True.

And one good way to buy some time is to disable, kill or otherwise injure thousands of Hezbollah fighters who have been involved in terror attacks against Israel.

At the very least, Israel just bought itself about 2 weeks of relative calm because it has seriously disrupted the Hezbollah command and control ability to communicate with the senior soldiers under its command. These people, numbering near 3000, who are the so-called and self-proclaimed "victims" of the popping pagers and walkie talkies, are going to be recuperating from their injuries for weeks, if not longer. Their ability to stage any sort of offensive action is seriously disrupted.

I would expect, if Israel is going to take an action against the daily missile and rocket attacks, and if Israel is going to return its citizens to their homes in the north of the country, they will be making their offensive action SOONER rather than later. They have weakened the fighting forces of their opposition. The window of opportunity to make a significant "demilitarized buffer zone" inside Southern Lebanon is certainly being opened. A land and air operation to take over territory, secure it, disarm it, and create a safe buffer area has begun.

Meanwhile, the United Nations, somehow is saying that attacks on actual terrorists is wrong because the Israeli government used "civilian" devices. Hmmm. . . do not the terrorists use actual civilians as human shields?

I'm seeing some media reports suggesting that Israel was NOT planning to detonate the pagers yesterday but 2 Hezbollah operatives/terrorists found the pagers were tampered with. Israel then "neutralized" one of them and detonated the pagers before the other was able to notify his superiors.

Apparently Hezbollah has been beaten back to the stone age by Israel.

They are now throwing rocks at the United Nations peacekeeping forces.

Those forces are basically only in Lebanon to protect Hezbollah from a full invasion by Israel. So now rocks are pelting the U.N. security vehicles and forcing them to drive away. Good job Hezbollah. Keep it up. That just clears the path for Israel to come into Lebanon and wipe Hezbollah off the face of the earth.

And, right on cue, Hezbollah says they will now target Israeli civilians.

All those rocket attacks, that they launch quite literally every day, that are aimed at civilian homes, that is proof that Hezbollah has been attacking civilians all along. So what is new? Oh, what is new is that the media will report that Hezbollah will now be "justified" in attacking civilians because a few of the pagers that exploded the dicks off of terrorists also injured a few bystanders.

And an appropriate Jewish response to all this . . .

We are joking about Hezbollah terrorists situation, because... Well, what else do you want us to do? In this mad world, where so called "human rights" people and organizations first demand from us to precisely target the terrorists, and then condemn us for doing exactly that - what else should we do, other than laugh ??? We, Israelis, are attacked from 7 fronts - Gaza, West Bank, Lebanon, Iran, Iraq, Yemen, Syria. And the 8th front - Jihadists supporters in Western countries. UN and "human rights people" don't give a damn when our children are burned alive, when our women are r*ped, when our people are held hostage and executed, when rockets explode onto our heads, targeting and m*rdering civilians on purpose... But when UN and "human rights supporters" start whining? When despicable Islamo-N*zi fanatics terrorists are injured or eliminated and not able to harm innocents again!!! Isn't that completely crazy???
No, it's not funny for us that more than 80000 people are evacuated from Israel North and can't come home for almost a year!!!
No, it's not funny that Hezbollah didn't agree to stop firing rockets at us and the only way to stop them is to DEFEAT THEM!!!
No, it's not funny for me that the war is at my door!!!
But what else can I do, except laugh???

Booby trapped dildos would be a particularly nasty weapon would it not. Now mind you, word on the street is more Hezzbollah men use them than women.
Realistically they could do a lot more damage to Hezbollah by boobytrapping goats.

But given the way that these terrorist groups treat women and children, how much money do you want to bet that the Hezbollah members have their women and children start to carry all their electronics?

It is war. Hezbollah chose it. Israel is responding.

For nearly a year (since the Hamas October 7 attacks on Israel) Hezbollah, primarily to the north inside Lebanon, has been firing rockets into Northern Israel. Israeli citizens had to abandon entire towns in the north.

And don't forget, Lebanon used to have a large Christian population, they still exist there, but are now in the minority.

From the folks at ZeroHedge, who seem to be much faster at getting the news out than traditional media sources.

Honestly if you don't visit ZH daily you are missing out on a great news source, mostly from a financial and geo-political angle and how that may affect your finances. With a nice libertarian bent that is highly critical of the RINOs and the liberals.

Israel's War Cabinet Greenlights Offensive War Against Hezbollah, Sends Elite Brigade North

Update(1544): As many suspected and feared, this deadly two-day Israeli covert operation to blow up Hezbollah pagers, walkie-talkies, and small electronic devices was but preparation for a likely Israeli military ground operation in southern Lebanon. It appears war is here. According to breaking news wires:
Israeli cabinet has given PM Netanyahu and Defence Minister Gallant the authorization to undertake military action against Hezbollah -- even if it leads to an all-out war.
So far the second day of explosions across Beirut and Lebanon have led to 20 killed and 450 wounded, but the casualty toll could be much higher.
Defense Minister Gallant has also declared a "new phase" of operations against Hezbollah along northern Israel:
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, IDF chief Herzi Halevi and other officials all issued statements Wednesday evening which appeared to suggest a full-on war with Hezbollah was brewing, hours after a wave of explosions of walkie-talkies and other communications devices used by Hezbollah members across Lebanon caused widespread casualties, echoing a similar attack a day earlier that targeted Hezbollah-issued pagers.
The IDF also announced Wednesday that it was redeploying its 98th Division to northern Israel, after months of operations in the Gaza Strip under the Southern Command.
Israel has further just ordered an elite brigade to the north:
The Israeli army announced it’s transferring the 98th Division from the Gaza Strip to the northern border with Lebanon as tensions continue to escalate.
With about 10,000-20,000 soldiers, the paratroopers and commandos will now join the 36th Division under the Northern Command.
The attacks in Lebanon have impacted a wide array of small electronic devices far beyond just pagers...
* * *
Axios and regional media are reporting a new wave of blasts in the Lebanese capital of Beirut, including explosions in the south of the country.
Israel has reportedly detonated hand-held personal radios used by Hezbollah members, the emerging reports say. The prominent regional news source War Monitor writes "Communications devices that exploded across Lebanon moments ago are hand-held radios, different to pagers that exploded on Tuesday, Security sources informed me."
Hezbollah’s Al-Manar TV is also confirming wireless devices exploded in the hands of those carrying them in several Lebanese areas. There are reports of at least nine new fatalities and over 300 injured in this second day of explosions.
Several ambulances have been witnessed rushing to the scenes of multiple new blasts. It appears the Israeli covert operation to sow chaos within Hezbollah's ranks is not over.
This comes after the group said it would be checking and inspecting all externally shipped-in electronic devices, considering it's clear at this point the pagers were manipulated by Israeli intelligence.
Ironically, Hezbollah relied on encrypted pagers in the first place because older tech was considered immune from Israeli intercepts. Governments and intelligence services can more easily sweep up cell communications. However, it has become clear that Israel has deeply penetrated Hezbollah telecoms in a very direct way:
Jody Westby of Global Cyber Risk says Hezbollah relied on “old technology” because it thought it would make its members’ lines of communication more secure.
Speaking to Al Jazeera from Washington, DC, Westby said Hezbollah used the pagers because they are more difficult to intercept and it is harder to trace the communications passed through them.
“This is digital warfare. What they did was take out a line of communication for Hezbollah. Clearly, it was planted, planned and it was effective. I wouldn’t call it a weapon of mass destruction. I would just call it an autonomous weapon, an executed military action,” she said.
Axios' Barak Ravid is reporting Wednesday, "Israel blew up thousands of personal radios (Walkie-Talkies) which were used by Hezbollah members in Lebanon in a second wave of its intelligence operation which started on Tuesday with the explosions of Hezbollah pager devices, per two sources with knowledge."
Below are more eyewitness reports from Al Jazeera correspondents on the ground in south Beirut:
We can confirm that there was at least one explosion in Dahiya neighborhood in the southern suburbs of Beirut. We’re at Hamra, which is sometimes referred to as the hospital area – there are three hospitals very close to each other.
Now we are hearing a lot of ambulance activity in the area suggesting there may be well casualties coming here or other hospitals nearby, possibly as a result of explosions within Beirut itself.
A car bomb has also reportedly gone off in the southern Lebanese city of Tyre.
Yaroslav Trofimov writes pretty much what everyone is thinking: "Blow up pagers, force the surviving Hezbollah cadres to rely on walkie talkies, and then blow up the much bigger explosive devices inside the walkie talkies. A TV spy series producers would rule out this twist plot as impossible to believe in."
War correspondent Elijah Magnier says this appears a prelude to a major Israeli military operation in Lebanon: "Normally in every war, the first attack is on a command-control base, and here the Israelis are attacking the control, which is the communication. Crippling communication is vital in any war because it is the main spine of the [enemy] army."
Meanwhile, UN and other international/western entities are reportedly coming under attack on suspicion of spying on behalf of Israel...
developing...

Hezbollah is having a bad day along the border inside Lebanon.

Israeli artillery shells set the area on fire, burning all the brush and hiding spots the terror group uses.

And Israeli fighter jets, flying at a low altitude, are buzzing Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. It appears they are dropping something as they fly over. I don't see reports of explosions so perhaps they are dropping informational leaflets. This is happening while the leader of Hezbollah is addressing his followers. Clearly Israel is sending a message.

Outside of Beirut, in other areas of Lebanon, the Israeli Defense Force has announced they are striking Hezbollah targets.

Israel launches overnight strikes in Lebanon against Hezbollah after exploding devices attack

Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the military launched a strike against a Hezbollah weapons storage facility located in Khiam.

Israel struck "terrorist infrastructure sites" in Lebanon where Hezbollah terrorists were operating, according to the Israeli military on Thursday.

The strikes follow the deadly explosion of electronic devices on Tuesday and Wednesday in Beirut and other parts of Lebanon.

The areas where the latest strikes occurred included Chihine, Tayibe, Blida, Meiss El Jabal, Aitaroun and Kfarkela.

Israel Defense Forces (IDF) also said the military launched a strike against a Hezbollah weapons storage facility located in Khiam.

"The IDF will continue to operate against the threat of the Hezbollah terrorist organization in order to defend the State of Israel," the IDF said in a statement.

According to Agence France-Presse, Hezbollah has "traded near-daily fire with Israeli forces in support of ally Hamas since the Palestinian militant group's October 7, 2023, attack triggered war in the Gaza Strip, with repeated escalations during more than 11 months of the cross-border violence."

Did Iran just get attacked?

Did Iran's ballistic missile program just experience a failure due to incompetence?

Or are the reports simply inaccurate?

All of this whilst President Biden takes a nap. Worse, his VP is still telling us how she grew up in a middle class family.

We can watch Oprah tonite with hard hitting questions for Kamala :ROFLMAO: :whistling:

Is the Emperor playing his violin?

Iran is pledging to provide soldiers to Hezbollah.

It is interesting to note that Iran, at least in this X post, is not pledging to invade or fight Israel, but is willing to send troops to bolster Hezbollah. Looks like Iran is making a calculated move. Letting Hezbollah be in a Proxy war.

And in a real big KA-BOOM-A-PALOOZA this is a major blow to both Hezbollah & IRAN by the nation of ISRAEL in a precision bombing attack.

Meanwhile Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon :hide:

More KA-BOOM-SHAKA-LAKA from Israel in their reply to the 8000+ missiles that Hezbollah has launched into Israel, driving roughly 80,000 civilians out of their homes/towns and killing a dozen children playing soccer.

And apparently even Arab owned and Hamas/Hezbollah friendly Al-Jazeera News is not allowed to report the truth because it might be too embarrassing for the Arab world to find out the truth about what is going on

But on to a bit of bad news for Israel, seems a small craft full of trouble making terrorists have gotten inside Israel and are hiding, awaiting opportunities to create some sort of havoc.

A typical and likely expected response from the enemy that just had is ass kicked, hard.
I suspect their activities in Tel Aviv to be a problem, but nothing on the clever mental scale of placing exploding comm devices in the hands and pants of the enemy.

Agreed

Seems like an act of desperation.

My guess is they will kill some random people, blow up a few things and die with hostages. All casualties will likely be civilian, which is likely a war crime if civilians are intentionally targeted.
