Dropped my motorcycle, hurt my back ...

I've dropped my motorcycle exactly twice. Today was a day.

The lovely Mrs_Bob and I went for a ride to the north side of the next county. Total ride was under 100 miles. We were coming back via a rural path and got to an intersection with a T-Intersection with stop sign on the top of a hill with a compound slope going across the road and also down the hill we had just come up. I was leading, came to the stop, turned right onto the next road, with an immediate slope down. She was seconds behind, came to the stop and had to make a full stop due to cross traffic. The odd slope and the next thing I heard through the Cardo headset was "S#!% I dropped my bike"

Ok, I was literally 100 yards away I see a driveway after a bridge that I am coming to so I into the drive. It is very narrow, downward slope and about 20' long paved in asphalt, then switches to sand and gravel. Next to it is a strip of grass. Next to that is sand/gravel down to the river. Thought it through and figured I could make a U-Turn. Well nope. I made about 3/4ths of that U turn but when my rear tire hit the sand the bike went down with a thump.

So damn ... My bike is down on a sandy slope. Her bike is 150 yards away down on an asphalt slope. It was a little struggle but I got it up and onto the kickstand. Quick inspection and was heading back toward the lovely Mrs_Bob to rescue her.

Get back to her, park. Of course she heard all my grief through her headset. So she is freaked because she always assumes I'm going to kill myself. I assure her I am fine. She says she wants to pick up her own bike but wants me to "spot" her and remind her of the technique. So I remind her to put her kickstand down. Then squat next to the bike. Apply the rear brake. Grab the seat rail. And push with her legs. Bike goes up most of the way. I'm standing behind the rear wheel, grab the passenger seat rails and help steady the bike.

Didn't feel anything, no twinge in my back, nothing. Both bikes are up, no worse for the wear. We proceed home. Probably 35 to 40 minutes away.

Got home, got off the bike, still feeling fine. Watered some potted plants and all of a sudden I couldn't move. Lower back is screaming in pain. Pain pill about 3pm. Looking forward to a muscle relaxer just before sliding into bed. I'm coaching an advanced saber fencing class on Thursday evening, it needs to be better by that time. Other than that I think I can rest most of the rest of the time.

Photo was taken about 30 minutes before the double bike drop just before we headed back toward home.

Ouch. Hurts just reading that. Been there done that, in regards to back hurting and I have no clue exactly what I did or when but man does it ever hurt.

We rode today on the trike. Filled up yesterday after getting trike near the house. Had to fill up again today. 6.6 gallon tank and I think I'm getting in the neighborhood of 30mpg. I'm getting used to how the Goldwing handles and enjoying the ride. No rain was in the forecast today but an hour after we got home we had a downpour. Very lucky we did not get caught out in it as we were not prepared.

For me back relief can come from an inversion table...
Hanging upside down seems to help me out a lot most of the times I need to.
Usually doesn't take to long, just 10 minutes or so will do it, a couple of times a day.
Then Naproxen for the inflammation.

I hope your better this morning...

Never tried one, I've seen them, but never tried one.

Use an Omron TENS unit, it sends little electrical charges thru your muscles. Provides some relief and aids in the healing process. Also naproxen too.

Ouch. I've tried pretty much everything when it comes to back pain as I live with it every day. The hot tub works best for mine and is a part of my daily morning routine. Get up, let the dogs out, make coffee, take pain meds, sit in the hot tub for 30 minutes. By then both the coffee and pain meds have kicked in and I can get stuff done.

I usually start my day with a couple cups of coffee, and I've been taking Aleve (Naproxen Sodium) for pain. Yesterday I did get into the pool. We keep the pool at about 90 degrees, so not as warm as a hot tub, but it was good.

The little TENS unit gets over used, but I find that it is very helpful at pain relief. The electronic imposes are supposed to help increase blood flow in the area where the muscles or tendons are pulled/strained/damaged. I just know it works. I tend to move the electrode pads around and change the settings so I'm not just running the same impulse pattern over and over into the same spots.

It is a little better this morning. Still very tender. Not going to be lifting sacks of concrete or even the baby, over my head anytime soon. But I'm certainly getting around better than I did on Sunday, evening. Improvement is good!

Mine has been hurting for a few days but it's because we're now in between seasons. Temps in the mid 20s during the day but barely above freezing at night. I have a tens unit somewhere but haven't used it in a while. I can get the pads on my lower back but my trouble area is between my shoulders right where I can't reach.

Aleve is part of my morning and evening cocktail of pain meds too. Lol. Along with one for nerve pain, medical marijuana (in pill form) a blood pressure pill, and a vitamin k pill to help with blood thinning caused by the blood pressure pill. Since I had several units of blood at the time of my accident 6 years ago, I found that any injury, regardless of severity from a scratch to an open flesh wound, takes forever to heal. And I often get infections from any open wound. The vitamin k helps with that.

Tender but improving would describe my condition tonight. I can move around, drive a car, walk around, but don't ask me to bend over because that is not happening.
