Illinois just fired half it's teachers because the state is bankrupt (Obama's home state...conincidence?). That 9 months off is spent getting recertifications and other newly required education the Feds say teachers need....remember No Child Left Behind...? Those union salaries are crap and they pay more into union dues than they get out of it. The only REAL benefit of the union is an attorney if you need one. And all the pressure for your kids to succeed is put on the teacher, no accountability on the student or the parents.
