Why I hope the Democrats win

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.

People are spoiled. Our economy is very strong. The stock market is at an all time high. It may very well “adjust” (crash) in the next two years.

Gas prices are falling. How long will that last?

The Bush tax cuts and low interest rates prompted a boom in housing sales. Many people bought (and mortgaged) McMansions that they can’t afford. The housing bubble may very well burst in the next two years.

The Left forced Bush to fight the war in Iraq in a Politically Correct manner. That war is virtually impossible to win at this point.

America is overdue for another terrorist attack.

The Democrats want to overturn the Bush tax cuts, give rights to terrorists, pull out of Iraq immediately, close Gitmo, gut the Patriot Act, blah, blah, blah...................

I think two years of Pelosi (with her San Francisco values) as Speaker of the House, Democrats infighting (they always do and will), higher taxes, people losing their jobs, homes, and cars, run-away inflation, high interest rates, high unemployment, high gas prices, will wake people up.

Add another terrorist attack, a continuation of the immigration problem, a few more gay pride parades, same sex marriages, a rewrite of the Pledge of Allegiance, blah, blah, blah.......... that will really wake up the country.

The next two years under the Democrats will set the stage for a Republican landslide in 2008. With a conservative president we can get another one or two conservative Supreme Court justices. That’s what America really needs.

The younger generation doesn’t remember what a nightmare it was under President Jimmy Carter. It’s time they learn.

What's interesting is that I was just talking with one of my customers father, who was probably in his mid to late seventies. Topic got on his seventy acres where his sons shop is at and next thing you know we're talking politics. Why I mentioned interesting is that his view is the exact opposite of yours.

He hates Bush, and thinks that every law created since 1946 should be taken off the books.

Just goes to show you we all have our own opinion.

Bush has fought the war he and his advisors saw fit. No one influenced them for the 1st year or two. I still have my doubts they seriously listen to anyone but their 'good ole boy' group.

I remember the vietnam & watergate nightmare under Nixon. However I would never describe the Carter years as a nightmare. Jimmy is a good guy, I don't think he was a good president, but, it was far from a nightmare.
I suppose you might be referring to the hostages in Iran which was a part of his presidency, other than that you lost me.

I can’t say that I want the democrats to win. However in my opinion if they do (or don’t for that matter) the margin in either house will be so slight that not much will change. Gridlock will continue. I do wish the democrats would get their crap together and offer a real and reasonable alternative to the Republican Party. Not that I would become democrat; we need another viable party to force the Republicans to realign themselves with, and represent, the conservative view that they espouse to. It is really difficult, in my opinion, to call the current majority conservative, big government, big spending and with too much of their nose in our business. Possibly this may also lead them to police themselves a bit better, I don’t think I can honestly say that one group is less corrupt than the other, they both are robbing us blind, on many different levels.

I am not so sure I agree with that statement. The left may have altered it some but I don't think the outcome would have changed. Being a Monday Morning quarterback I don't think we should have gone there. Now don't get me wrong, I do support our troops and do support fighting for freedom but I think we went to the wrong place.

I remember Jimmy. I remember he worked his ass off and got nothing accomplished. I remember 20% interest rates on home loans, I also remember being in the service industry watching person after person being laid off from work. He might not have been a nightmare for some but he wasn't any good as a President and he is not doing our country any good right now.

I do remember President Ronald Reagan. Out of all the Presidents I remember Reagan was the best. And I believe the good years during the Clinton administration was from the Reagan years.

What do you mean that Carter is not doing our country any good right now? Funny, I remember the Reagan administration as being the one to cause me to be cynical about politicians (I was too young to understand what was going on during the Nixon years).:my2cents:

Here

He might not like the way things are going but you don't go out and bash the United States. He might just as well have burnt the flag. And we or he may not like President Bush, but he is our President. We may not like what Bush has done, and for the record I don't care what he has done or handled things. But that is being a Monday Morning Quarter back when we don't know all of the details.

thcri, I clicked the link and carefully read the article. I have seldom seen such a biased and twisted article. Jimmy Carter bashing fundamentalist Christians? You have got to be kidding. The rest of it was just as wrong-headed.

So refute it point by point. Just calling it Carter bashing, biased and twisted and "wrong headed" is meaningless rhetoric.

I remember the Carter years and would definetely not call them good. All I rember is high unemployment and no growth in my location except for government housing projects.

If a person looks up and says, "The sky is green." and then looks down and says, "The grass is pink." How do you refute it point by point? You can tell him the sky is blue and the grass is green; you could even line up 10,000 experts to tell him the sky is blue and the grass is green, but if he chooses to believe green sky and pink grass, there is absolutely nothing you can do to convince him. You just have to write him off as wrong-headed and twisted.

So it is with that article and the people who believe it.

Thanks Don, you won't ever change will you. That same article was on CNN on time but twisted a different twist. I saw it on CNN and your view is the same as CNN. As I saw it on CNN I could see how they twisted the whole thing.

But you never ever will see anything anyway other than your stubborn way. If it's Democrat its right and if it's republican it is wrong in your mind. You got blinders on Don.

Call me twisted, your the stubborn one here and always has been. Your the one the one time asked us all to try and view things with an open mind but then with your stubborn arrogance you got pisssed because some people could not see it YOUR Way. Your arrogant and you always will be. You called many people here twisted and arrogant many times. Your comment above shows your childish ways. You can't have any discussion with anybody unless they agree with you otherwise you call them names. Then when you don't get your way you leave FF and go kick the wall for a few weeks.
