Was talking to son today about selling his car. He crashed it this evening.

Friggin Murphy's law. :(

He was psyched about getting an upgrade (Camry to Avalon then onto the Lexus).
We had full plans on selling his car today (cleaned it and everything).
He was driving home from work and got in an accident with another vehicle. OOPS.
Cosmetic on his car (front bumper and grill). Don't yet know the damage to other vehicle.

Glad everyone is OK. One of his first comments was "I better start saving for the ins rate increases". Yep.

I finally took Melen off my insurance. Probably should have done that a few years ago.

Not sure about the age of your son, but I suspect a healthy insurance rate increase if he is under 30.

Maybe you can still sell it at a discount and not have to tell your insurance.

Talked with our ins agent.
We have "rate lock". Our premiums won't go up.
Depending on who's at fault based on the police report, if our company has to pay, we don't pay anything out of pocket for the other car.

Sounds like the same deal as my son last year when he rear ended someone. No collision insurance. I ended up fixing his vehicle in the garage. Cost him roughly $2500. New bumper, headlights, radiator, internal crush bumper, ac condenser, and hood. All bolt on parts.
