Snow Tracs were available with a 2 passenger cab, which is what TorNorway has photographed above. They also produced the more common 7 passenger cab, which is what I own. They also made 2 versions of an open top Snow Trac, there are photos of "wreckerman's" military open top version in another thread of the Forums and also in the REME museum thread. Those both had full front windshield's and came with a canvas top over a frame. Another version had only a short windshield.

Maybe the other Norwegian owners have not found us yet?

I watch the locations were people post from, you are our first Norwegian that I am aware of. We have a lot of people who check in from Iceland. Several from France, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, etc. Most are not members, but they come here to visit.

In my area the snow has been very light this year. We had a lot of snow early in the season. It melted and we have had only occasional snows for the remainder of the year. We had 3 to 5 inches (about 9cm) on Saturday, but today the temperatures will reach 60-F (16-C). Very strange!

What do you use your Snow Trac for?

How long have you owned it?

I have not brougth i home yet, just bought it unseen yesterday.
have no practical use for it, bought it mostly for fun.
But its a brilliant macine too use then i go im "Timberjack"(dont know the word) in the forest.
The plan is to do a resturation, its some small problems with the engine, brakes, handbrake, but its easy to get parts around here. aint live`in far away from sweden.

Manny of these snowtracs is not in use they just stand i barns, this one has been in a barn for 15 years, taken out last fall

Are you married to a woman who thinks you are an idiot?

My wife swears I am the biggest idiot on the planet!!!

I am looking for someone to take my place, if you could help me out I would greatly appreciate it.

I will say that when I drive my Snow Trac around, the neighbors are pretty sure my wife is correct. But I have a big smile on my face so I don't care. These things are fun, and seem like they can do a good amount of work too.

Sometimes a guy needs to have a silly toy :a1:

Pretty sure my neigbours, is not gonna like it. But Still i`m looking forward to see the look upon their face then i arrive with it.

But there is an law against using this snow tracs, snowscooter ect. in Norway. But if you have an reason, its okey. But sadly, have`in fun is not one of those reasons.

We have no laws against using them where I live. If I drive it on the road, I have to put a "SLOW MOVING VEHICLE" sign on the back and make sure my lights are turned on. But I do not need to do that if I drive it over the fields and through the woods. Even a child can legally drive them if they stay off the road. Other areas may have different laws, but I classify my Snow Trac as a "tractor" and in Indiana "tractors" are allowed everywhere!

Welcome, TorNorway :D I just joined the fun here, also.

I use my Thiokol snowcat for logging. Will you be adding a winch or some kind of attachment to make skidding the logs easier ?

Did your area have the big windstorm that ruined many acres of forest ?

Tor, Mottakelse til vår forum. Jeg ikke eier en snømaskin. Faktisk vi ikke vanligvis får nok her i min område betrakte skylde en, men jeg tror de ser ut som en moroleketøy. Min Norsk er høflighet av internet.

Tor,
Welcome to our forum. I don't own a snow machine. Actually we don't usually get enough here in my area to consider owing one, but I think they look like a fun toy.
My Norwegian is courtesy of the internet.

Hi

You guys are getting good at writing norwegian!!!:a1:

The reason for outlawing use of motorised vehicle in the norwegian forests is mostly enviroment, but if you have a reason, such as farming, its okey

I`ve not heard of any storm now i later time, but i heard something about it down in Germany/Holland.

I`ve thought about attach a winch, but i`m not sure if the Snow Track is hevy enough. Maybe i will just pull the ST instead of the log.

Do you have these in the states:
Volvo BV-202

Here is a photo that shows 3 short cab, military Snow Tracs with the canvas over frame cargo areas. These differ from the Snow Trac owned by TorNorway in that when the canvas is lowered, there is no solid wall behind the driver.

Thanks to Villi for this picture!
