Uh, oh. Ford PLUMMETS in initial quality ratings!

Dargo

Like a bad penny...
I can't link to subscription sites, but I expect major news networks will pick up on the news tomorrow. Ford was once ranked 5th in quality out of all auto makers. Tomorrow you'll see that they've dropped to.....27th. :hammer: GM dropped too, but not as much. Audi was one of the big gainers. If you take the VW segment away (still way too inconsistant with quality and reliability), Audi is the top rated European manufacturer. Kia broke into the top 10, topping all domestic manufacturers. To think, ten years ago I laughed at Kia and Hyundai; now I own one. Oh, Jaguar held fast to the worst manufacturer in quality and reliability.

Folks are tired of paying $30-40,000 for junk. New truck prices are crazy.

I only have about 85k on my F350 4X4 crew cab dually with every option except King Ranch (don't care for that interior package). I love the truck to be honest. It's as strong as any truck I've ever driven and people can say all they want about the PSD 6.0. Mine has hauled over 20k just about every time it has moved with no problems and I can run with a Mustang GT in the 1/4. Oh, I'll have to love it for a while too; it would cost me around 60k to replace it!

But break down the complaints for FORD. The biggest single complaint was the FORD iTOUCH computer interface. It sucks. The mechanics of the car were not the problem.

FWIW, I'd love a King Ranch Expedition but can't get it with a Diesel engine.

The new Escape had 3 recalls including drug-off-the-road-on-a-hook fires in the first month.

The new transfer from Europe C-Max seems a little better but the hybrid is not meeting the sticker MPG's. The software includes a route learning mode which may creep it up.

Ford engineers admitted in the Automotive News interview that they had a difficult to understand interface with their electronics but, I suppose, had nothing waiting in the wings to change it with nor the ability to make it easier. I wonder if that Ford engineer will have a job tomorrow. I doubt he will be quoted and make the news, but you never know.

You know, these rankings are fortheshit.

Y'all know I love my Benzes. They consistently rank low on quality. They generally are the first for anything new, and new tech tends to fail or may be unusual to use.

I don;t know how to look back on ratings, but I am guessing when my 2001 E430 was new or a year or two old, it was rated poorly.

I want to know how many of the #1 to #25 cars from 2001 are still out there driving, with everything still working, and turned over 300,000 miles, like I just did today? Yes, everything still works, and I have not had any major repairs. Normal maintenance is all.

Phhhttt on these rankings. Ford makes damn good truck.
