The whole world needs to adopt China's one-child policy

What makes people feel like that are finished at a certain number?
Some stop at one, some stop at two... we don't feel like we are "done" yet.
Are we wrong to want more than two?
Heck no Andy!
I just knew I wouldn't be a good Mom to more than two children.
We both had careers going, the boys were enough for me to handle with all their school and extracurricular activities.
I have good friends who live north of here who had 16 kids!

I haven't read through this entire thread Vin, and as much as I love my church, I have never been able to understand why it doesn't lighten up on the birth control issue.
One poignant moment for me was back when JPII traveled to some third world nation with a high Catholic population.
He told them to be brave and to stick with the teachings of the church, while there were hungry children clinging to the breasts of the mothers and they were eating food stuffs sent in from other countries.
Easy for Rome to say, while they all sit fat and happy in the Vatican not having the actual responsibility of children, unless of course you count teaching them the proper way to grow up and live their lives as the chosen ones.

How come you can see it and JPR can't?

And I do not exclude other religions, as they seem to have similar ideals.

The Catholic church is only responsible for over population in the dark ages of the church in the USA mostly.
If you are to believe every Catholic follows the dogma as written, you're sadly mistaken.
Many do, and bless them if they can swing it, however most don't.
It's the Catholics who are desperately clinging to something concerning their faith in less developed countries who do.

Excuse the pun, I am playing the devils advocate here, If you don't follow dogmas as written, how can you call yourself a Catholic?

That's kinda like saying, "If you visit the USA, how can you call yourself Australian?"

Me? How can I call myself a Catholic?
Well let me see now.. I live in the US for one thing.
I am free to do as I please.
I feel God himself, my sweetie bro Jesus and His Mom are in control of me and my faith, not the magisterium.
All those bells and whistles, smoke and incense kinda turn me on.
I even leave the confessional with a teensy smirk on my face and do my given penance like a good girl.
I love Ben, our current pope, sorta, but hey, he's no Paul Vl.
Holy days are observed, I fast (unless the bacon attack strikes on a Friday during Lent).. I am a little messy when it comes to the holy water, cause I feel the need to dip my head in the font on Sundays, other than that, I'm good!
:smile::poke::toilet:

Population growth statistics (by country), per Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_population_growth_rate

And I'll be ... Australia's got a higher growth rate than the USA ....

I think that list includes immigration. You need to compare birth rates to death rates and remove immigration from the issue.

Whose duty is it to make the decision to make one the limit, rather than two for example?

Thats the problem, it ain't going to happen just like consensus on carbon emissions. So what will happen, who knows, I doubt that it will be pretty, but I won't be around to worry.
