SPOT X 2-way satellite communicator

It's interesting that most of the route shown does have cell, but not continuous with any given cell carrier. I've run into that a lot here in the PNW. I happen to have all 3 carriers devices, but may times only one of them shows any signal. Leave the travel routes and none of them show activity. Gotta love sat-com.

We had 2 ATT phones and 1 T-Mobile (Verizon network) phone with us.

It was very common to have all 3 phones without any service. The T-Moblie device has better service at my home (rural Indiana) but the ATT phones had SOME connectivity in SOME parts of Yellowstone.

NONE of the phones worked along many sections of the coast from Ft Brag south to SF and then down to Santa Cruz. That actually shocked me that California had such crappy coverage. Granted it is small stretch of the coast, but outside of SF and SC, the service was close to non-existent.

There was no issue on the trip, but it was nice to have the Sat-Com for sending a message to people at home

One interesting note, there were several times when I had a fully charged SPOT X in the morning and then accidentally left it turn "ON" and sitting on dashboard of the minivan all night. Came back the next morning to find it roughly 75% charged. Let it run all day the next day and still have it over 50% charged. That is with tracking set to drop a breadcrumb every 10 minutes and included occasional "check in" or custom messages. So battery life, despite being several years old, is still excellent.
