I got this via email. It had 429 signatures on it, so that indicates it's been going around for awhile. Has anyone else seen a copy of this? Is there any truth to it?

Subject: Social Security Petition Does not matter if you personally like or dislike Bush, you need to sign this and lets flood his email box with emails and tell him that even if the house passes this bill, he needs to veto it.

It is already impossible to live on Social Security alone. If they give benefits to "illegal" aliens who have never contributed, where does that leave us that have paid into Social Security all our working lives?

As stated below, the Senate voted this week to allow "illegal" aliens to have access to Social Security benefits. Attached is an opportunity to sign a petition that requires citizenship for eligibility to that Social service. You can Agree or Delete. Instructions are below.

PETITION FOR: President Bush

Mr.. President:

The petition below is a Protest against what the senate voted on recently which was to allow illegal aliens to access our social security! We demand that you and all Congressional representatives require citizenship for anyone to be eligible for social security services in the United States .

We further demand that there not be any amnesty given to illegals, And NO free services or funding, or payments to and for illegal Immigrants. We are fed up with the lack of action about this matter And are tired of "paying" for services to illegals!
 
The problem with that petition the way that it is written is that there are already lots of people that have paid into the system and are entitled to benefits that are not citizens of the U.S., but are legal immigrants that file tax returns and pay their taxes like the rest of us. I think that it is wrong to allow undocumented, illegal aliens to come into our country and then give them the same benefits as those that have applied for and receive permission to immigrate. The problem is that the Congress and the President see this as a good chance to curry favor with these illegal immigrants and to gain them as voters that will support the party that has given them rights that they would normally not be entitled to. I know of no other country that treats its illegal populous with favor that isn't even granted to its citizens. In a few weeks, we will have the opportunity to take back our country by voting in politicians that are hopefully more in tune with the common man's plight.
 
Junk, in addition to what you point out, this petition starts out pretty flawed in logic. It states "It is already impossible to live on Social Security alone."

The entire program of SS is based on the premise that it is only a suppliment to what the individuals have personally saved. It was NEVER intended to be a retirement program that would support you, it was supposed to just give you some extra pocket money.

So the way the author is writing this petition leads people to presuppose or buy into the suppositions of the author, which are clearly idiotic.

TERM LIMITS!!! Out with all politicians and burocrats with more than 2 terms or 10 years which ever comes first.
