So Many Books And So Little Time:):)

Lisa, I couldn't agree more with what you say about your little local library. My wife has been President of out local Memorial Library for quite a few years. It exists solely on donations and grants, no city or county money. The State used to make a contribution but that has all but disappeared since the budget cuts a couple of years ago. Life is one continual round of fund raising. It never and can never stop. They live on the edge all the time. The one good thing about Mineola is that they have the "Meredith Foundation". It would take too long to explain but in essence they give money to 501c3 corps within the Mineola School District. They're the only reason that the Library still exists. Last year they gave money for the Library to buy a Sprinter van and have it fitted out as a bookmobile. Now volunteers deliver books to all the local hospitals and nursing homes in the area and to run summer programs for little kids in the different areas of town when they are out of school.

I'd encourage anyone to get involved with their library. Even with all the electronic stuff that kids have today, it provides an invaluable service to your community.

Having said that, in the last few years I've practically quit reading books for entertainment. I have an old Nook that I seldom use except when we're traveling. I still read a lot of magazines, articles and do-it-yourself how-to kind of books and on the internet but novels, no. Writing this, I really need to get back in the habit.

Love your posts and your blog.
