Snowcat Season is Approaching!

Now that the peak of summer heat is behind us (I hope), it’s time to start thinking of snowcats and the upcoming adventures in the winter of 2025-2026. I’m excited; not just at how the "Mystery Tucker” will perform, but meeting up with the snowcat faithful at the 2026 Hood River Serenade, and hopefully another event.

For some inspiration, here's a video I took of the final testing of CHUGSzilla. This was after it was “dyno tuned” in SLC, and to confirm the programming changes corrected the lean condition. This was taken on June 1, 2025 near the top of Mirror Lake Highway in Utah. The elevation is just over 10,000’.

Hopefully our last heat wave will peak on Wednesday at 100°F, then drop 20 degrees by the weekend. Snow forecasted later next week (if you believe that, there's something wrong with you).
Like every other cat addict on here, my mind is on the future...waiting for that first snow flake to fall and hoping for a good healthy dump. I run up to my cabin probably twice a month, doing cabin stuff, and always take a minute to stroke the ol' Imp and fire her up.

Today the ranch in Western Oregon got to 103F. Not believing that I got out the certified thermometer. 103F . Yuck. I drove my snow trac a few years ago in an equipment parade in 103 F heat. As we were getting in line it would be move 10ft, wait. The young lady driving the Lamborghini tractor behind me asked why I would keep leaving the cab. )The much maligned VW heater boxes on my trac can not be shut all the way off. ) I invited her to sit in it for a couple of minutes. On her exit, she stated: I've been in cooler saunas than that.

I'm ready for SNOW

Good story!
Yesterday the Oregon gov called a state of emergency. My friend in Oregon city said it was 104. Pretty toasty for them. Only got to 100 here in Central Washington's semi arid region. Another couple days of this and it will break drastically.

You snow Catter's are an anxious breed, no?
Snow-sport folks are the most optimistic lot you will ever meet.

Often loudly quoted as " we got 308" of snow last year" yet never had enough snow at any one time to need a helicopter to get into my camp.

Substitute any vehicle for helicopter.....

If you had a helicopter that would be silly.
