Scary episode yesterday driving to town.

I was cruising along a short distance behind 2 motorcycles heading to the city yesterday when a huge black bear (I'm guessing 500+ pounds) came running out of a driveway at full speed chasing after the motorcycles. They had no clue. I slammed on the brakes (after checking my mirrors quickly) and almost skidded to a complete stop when the bear stopped and turned back towards me. It then ran off into the woods.

Are Canadian Bikers part bacon?

I came close to a Deer, once..... but I've never had a Bear chase after me when I was on my bike.

Deer HATE my bike's horn. When I'm in an automobile, I can honk at a Deer and they don't even turn their head. But when I'm on my little Honda Rebel, I'll beep my horn and they freak out... they get down on their front legs like a Dog getting excited when you're just about to throw the ball. Then they leap off into the woods. It's so funny to watch. I look for Deer when I'm on my bike JUST so I can scare them and giggle for a few miles.

I have bears around my neighborhood, but I've never actually seen one. All my neighbors tell my Wife and I stories about their Bear sightings... but they stay away from MY house. (We don't make "stinky" garbage... we rinse a lot of stuff and food scraps stay in the freezer until garbage day..... that might be why?)

Bears would LOVE me....... I eat a lot of bacon. (REAL bacon..... not that "Canadian" bacon stuff).

I've had close encounters with Deer several times. Moose a couple times. I hit a duck and also a Red Tailed Hawk. Never a bear run out on me but I've driven slow past a few of them. I would think the bear would be the slowest of all.

That's the first time I've ever seen a bear charge at full speed on the hwy. I've seen them in the ditch eating before but they rarely bother to look up at me. They can move FAST.
