Gone But Not Forgotten
I recently have been having health issues and in for a bunch of medical test . They have determined that I need my Gallbladder removed and I also have diverticulias (sp) .

I was told yesterday that the polup they removed in my colon was cancerous . The doc said he cut it all out and cartized it and that is the end of that .
My Ex wife had this same procedure done and they( her doctors) said they HAD too also take a section of the Colon to stop the cancer from spreading .
She wants me to get a second opinion from a cancer doctor . I have faith in my doctor, that did the colonspocopy , so I am unsure what to do . Should I discuss this with my General MD ? Should I wait until after they remove my Galbladder to see if all my other issues finally clear up ?

FYI : My mom died of liver cancer at 69 . It came on in 3 months and she was gone 5 months later .

Was the polup malignant or benign? If malignant, I'd get second (and third) opinions.
 
X3 ....A 2nd opinion could never hurt ya, while no 2nd opinion could bite ya in the behind. If the gallbladder surgery is happening soon, I see no problem with before, or after ...just get er done in the near future.

opinions are like farts everybody has them and mine don't stink. that said it never hurts to get a few opinions from some different specialist and take the best 2 out of 3.
 
Get other opinions (regardless of how many it is) until you feel you don't need to get any more.
 
Ditto to what everyone else has said. Other doctors might have different treatment approaches as well and you want to be able to have all the information before you make decisions. My prayers and thoughts are with you.

My sister recently had diverticulitis and while it was a tough road for her she is now recovered and doing great so keep your spirits up!
 
Thanks All . The little women and I discussed it in length yesterday and made the call to my general MD to get his suggestion . He knows the doc who did the Colonspocy(sp) . If there is any doubt at all , we will go see a specialist . I just wish they would hurry up and take the gallbladder so I can start feelin better . I have promised the wife to build a new Home this year in the upper meadow on the ranch and its hard to get motivated when you feel lousy .
 
All teasing and joking aside, I'd get a second opinion. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
 
Got some good news today !:clap: My general MD called to discuss the cancerous polups .I can't believe he called on a Saturday too ??? He said there was no Cancer ! Only some pre cancer that was all removed for safety reasons .I still don't know why the other doc said that I had cancer. They still don't know whats wrong with me but at least I have one less thing to worry about . I feel like a ton of weight was just lifted off my shoulders . I already thanked the Good Lord For looking out for me . I now have to go in every 3 years to do the test instead of 5 just to be safe .
I just hope when the Gallbladder comes out that the sickness will go away .:flowers:

I went thru the same thing with the same anxiety level last year.

A good scare is surely a wake up call.

Now I spend every day doing what I enjoy (mostly anyway !)

Get that tractor ordered.........we need pictures !

I agree. I'd still see an oncologist. My wife's uncle just passed today and my step-mother has advanced stage IV cancer that has metastasized everywhere. She is doing brutal chemo with the goal of making it through this summer. Her oncologist is blunt with her about how he could have worked to beat her cancer instead of just trying to give her a few more months. I even got my first full physical after that...then promptly crushed my left hand. Still, this annoying hard cast and pain doesn't compare to the "C" word!
 
I also agree with seeing the oncologist. Like the parachute comment above, the only one that would pay the price for a misdiagnosis is you. I would also suggest that you repeat the colonoscopy in a year or so.

I had 22 cm of my colon resected for another reason, luckily for me, it was also the part where the diverticulitis was. That is a terrible thing to live with.

My heartfelt best wishes and prayers go out to you on both fronts.

Please don't leave this up to your GP.
