NFL Fines

thcri

Gone But Not Forgotten
Terrel Owens spit on another player in last nights game. Talk today is he will get about a $5,000.00 fine. My questions is when you make millions per year what the heck is a $5,000.00 fine? that is like $5.00 to us.

I don't think the fines are big enough but the real reason I'm posting is that I know you hate my avatar and thought you'd like an opportunity to get me to change it! Click here!:moon:

Well ... If the SOB had spit on me ,somebody better call a ambulance because one of us is headed to the hospital :horsepoop:

The average NFL salary is approximately 10x my salary, so I guess a $5000 fine would be the same as someone fining me $500. Just because some players make more should not mean their fines handed down by the NFL should be greater. If that was the case, it would be similar to the fine for a speeding ticket being based on your salary.

Actually, there are lots of sliding scales like that in society. Indiana (and probably other states) base your vehicle registration fees on the retail value of the vehicle.

Dang GB your doing pretty darn good. I just googled for average NFL salary and found it to be 1.1 million in 2001, and 'unoffically' 2 million in 2004. Heck it might be 2.5 million now. 10% of that would be $250,000 per year. A quarter million a year ain't to shabby my man. And you're not even a Site Supporter yet. :pat: :yankchain: :D

But in this case we were not talking about the average NFL player. TO is probably in the top 10% of NFL salaries. A fine of 5,000 would not even be noticed by someone making that kind of cash. Hopfully the coach and team owners reaction to the incident will be what helps him 'learn his lesson' .....if that is even possible with TO.

The information from the NFL player's association states:

The NFL Players Association's research department says the average player salary rose 5% in 2005 to $1.4 million.

That's the figure I was basing my response on.

That was quite a brawl. I couldn't believe the head lock that started it all while they guy was just trying to do a layup. I've never heard of all 10 players on the court being ejected from a game. I wonder if that was a 1st.
A wild one for sure.
The excuse I heard was the Nics felt the score was being run up on them ... :pat: It's a game. The object is to SCORE! :pat:

TO got $35,000. Not sure that would even affect his pocketbook but hey it's better than $5,000 that was predicted. I still like the NBA in their handing out of suspensions and even slapping a fine on the teams.
