Need help from a member with a lathe

PineRidge

Back From the Dead
I am needing a member with a lathe willing to cut a hole in a schedule 80 PVC clean-out cap like the attached picture. All I need is the larger center hole cut for the rubber stopper, and it is important that the hole be centered and at the same angle as the rubber stopper taper (hence needing it done on a lathe). I am able to do the rest using a drill press. If you can assist please PM me.

Mike, send it to me. I don't have a lathe, but I have something better. I have a neighbor who owns a full machine shop with multiple lathes. He can do it.

Hi Mike. What is this for? Looks like some kind of a drain device? How are you going to acces the plug from outside the pipe? :smileywac :tiphat:

John the cap started out as a common drain device but that's not how it will end up. My son belongs to the IPLA and this is part of a high tech project that I'm putting together for him. Have any idea what the IPLA might be? :coolshade

I'm also showing you both sides of the finished cap.

Bob, I just knew one of you guys would come through for me THANKS for the kind offer. If you would be kind enough to PM me your mailing asddress I'll fire this puppy off to you UPS.

JUNKMAN don't give it away, cause you already know the answer.

Mike; Still can't figure out what it's for, but I can see how it works!

IPLA-International Possum Lovers Association?:rofl1:

AHAH! It's a vacuum breaker?

Dave you guessed it.

The IPLA = International Potato Launcher Association

This launcher with a chamber/barrel ratio of .8:1 will hurl spuds at approximately 375 MPH when finished. This check valve will be used in conjunction with a brushless fan mounted within the combustion chamber for quick venting after every shot.

Sounds cool. Much more sophisticated (safer) than the ones we made a few years back.

Mike the parts arrived today via UPS.

I'll take them to his shop tomorrow morning. Hopefully he can get to it quickly.

Well just a bit of an update, I showed up at the machine shop and found "Joe" with nothing to do after he finishes with the one part that was already on the lathe. So the potato gun part is the next thing in line. His only request was that he gets a complimentary set of plans so he can build one if this works!!!

I should have it back at lunch, and shipped out via UPS tomorrow.
