Man in Bear Suit scares away a Black Bear

Well I guess that is one way to get a bear out of your yard.

But black bears are typically pretty easy to scare away. Not sure a Brown or Grizzly would have reacted in a similar way; one of those might have taken it as a challenge. Still, given the outcome, it a fun story and a fun video. As this is North Carolina, no chance it would have been a Grizzly or Brown bear.

Man In Bear Suit Scares Off Black Bear; He’s Lucky It Wasn’t A Wyoming Grizzly

A North Carolina man uses a bear suit to scare black bears off his lawn. Some Wyomingites said trying that with a grizzly would be insane. They could maul you, or worse, try to get frisky.

A North Carolina man took a creative and goofy approach to bear deterrence —stepping out of his house in a bear suit to spook away a black bear that had plunked down on his lawn.
It worked for Rodney Clark of Asheville, North Carolina, as evidenced by media interviews and a video making the rounds on news outlets and social media.
However, some Wyomingites said trying that tactic on a grizzly bear would probably get a person mauled, possibly killed — or perhaps even worse — molested by the bear.

Eastern Bears Bigger, But More Mellow

The Eastern U.S. has plentiful black bears. Because they eat so well, they can be huge, sometimes even bigger than Western grizzlies.
However, their relatively easy living has also left them docile, at least compared to bears in Wyoming.
That appears to be the case of the bear in the video, which is chilling on a lawn as the man steps out in a bear suit, which looks like it could be a sports team mascot costume.
As the man in the suit approaches the actual bear, the animal looks perplexed for a moment, before jumping up and running for a short distance.
In a second encounter caught on video, the bear suit proves to be too much, as the bear pauses near a wooden fence and looks back for a moment. Then it scrambles under the fence’s lower rail and scampers away. . . .

A recent poll shows that the majority of Women, when asked whom they would rather encounter in the woods: a Man or a Bear..... chose the Bear.

......... I wonder if this guy shows up for dates in this bear suit?

Balls. There must be big ones in that costume. If I'm facing a bear in a costume, I want plate armor.

I had to add some glue to King Shark's foot. I stood him up on the front porch so the weight of his body would compress the joint that I had glued. (He will stand on his own).

My Wife literally pee'd herself when she came into the living room and saw that.

No bear suit for me in my close encounter with a black bear.

I was actually asleep inside a tent on the Appellation Trail. Bear literally was standing on the tent, didn't tear it. But the tent poles were destroyed. I woke up and poked my head out of the tent door to watch it walk away.

I was standing at the end of the driveway half asleep with my lunchbox in hand at 6am waiting for a ride to work when I turned around and there was a bear between me and the house. I instantly dropped my lunchbox threw my arms in the air and started screaming as I charged towards it. It ran away.
