Machine washable rugs or traditional rugs for living room?

Hey all

I just finished renovating my new place and I’m looking at getting an 8×10 rug for my living room, but the problem is that I can’t decide between a machine washable rug or a traditional one.

Traditional rugs feel thick and luxurious, and I love how they make the room look “complete”, but the thought of cleaning them with kids or pets around… not sure I can handle it.

Machine washable rugs seem way easier to deal with, but different brands do things differently. Ruggable has that two-piece removable system, nuLOOM has some lightweight rugs that you can toss in the washer, and Tumble and Garvee focus on everyday machine washable.

I’d love to hear what you all went with for your living room. Has anyone actually washed a full 8×10 rug in a machine? Did it hold up well, or was it a hassle?

Washable rugs are very light and generally don't stay in place unless you use something like corner adhesive strips to secure them to the floor.

I don't think traditional rugs are washed. Usually hung out to air and beaten to remove dust. By the way, that is a good way to keep the kids out of trouble(having them beat the rug)

I use rubber mats.

The Beavers have a tendency to get stuck on rugs.
