Lake Erie Extreme Weather event

Wow!! Lake Erie is expected to vanish in a lot of the western basin tomorrow. This could end up being one of the biggest events in recent memory. The water is expected to drop 6 feet compared to current levels. This will expose the lakebed in the western basin tomorrow late afternoon/evening into early Thanksgiving. This may reveal shipwrecks in shallow water, and other items that are normally under 6 feet of water on a normal day.
Meanwhile, the National Weather Service has issued a Gale Warning for all of Lake Erie from Wednesday morning through Friday morning. The National Weather Service is now expecting some waves may reach 20 feet in the central and eastern half of the lake. The water level before the waves is forecast to be more than 11 feet higher along the shore of Buffalo, NY compared to Toledo, OH.

If you do head out to the lakeshore tomorrow or Thanksgiving to either watch the waves or search the drained lakebed, please be careful. The water will not rush back like a tsunami, but the water levels will be in flux. If you are near Lake Erie where the water and waves reach monster levels, please keep a safe distance between you and the water. You do not want to mess with the power and anger of Lake Erie!

The lake nearly vanishes a lot when we get extreme windy weather.

Related to this.. a large portion of the Ohio Turnpike is shut down because of the wind and high profile vehicles.

We are under a high wind advisory here.
