Kristi oil change ?

I would like to flush out the crank case and refill it since it has been sitting for so long.
No idea about VW or Kristi specific oil change procedure.

Does any one know have any tricks or tips ?

If it's been sitting a long time, the screen on the pickup may be fouled. Having never worked on a kristy, I don't know what access you have. There is a round plate where the oil drain is. I'd start by pulling that, inspecting and cleaning. I have a copy of "how to keep your VW alive" it was helpful, but most of the info is on the web. Search through theSamba.com which has a lot of good info.

Well worth the cost since my workshop is just outside of the reach of my home's wifi signal.

Unfortunately , I don't believe it can be accessed without pulling the motor .
There is a drain hose that comes through the firewall into the passenger compartment with a plug in it.
I gather that is the oil drain for the engine and after seeing the sludge and water that barely oozed out of it ,Im afraid the engine will need to come out regardless.

Sorry I am late to the party yes the hose is what you want. Mine had a valve and a plug. the water i found was condensate that settled into the hose. Jam you phone or camera up under the air shroud, I am betting you can see the 4-5 inch round disc that is the screen. the hose should go to the center of it. I would put some warm light weight oil in the engine and observe how fast it comes out.
I have pulled a motor on a kristi, it is fun and leads to a list of *welp, while its out* items. Drain it flush it once or 3 times...... fire it up. see what you have. Air cooled are so cheap and plentifull, just get to building a fresh engine and enjoy the one that is in it.
Why you may ask. the world doesnt need anymore projects sitting around 1/2 apart ( giggle giggle)
I did follow this path and found the 1200cc engine to be a great runner and I enjoyed a full season on it stressing its limits trying to have it fail. it just ran better and better and the oil comes out very clean and very quickly when its warm. Oh the motor I pulled in another kristi.... yeah its still on the work stand.... that kristi doesn't do anything fun, Booh to that path.

I did get it drained and poured a half gallon of clean oil through it.....still nasty.
So I dumped a can of seafoam in it and a couple quarts of kerosene ( I wanted to use diesel but I was to lazy to get some) and Ill let it soak over night.
 
As much as I respect the squirrel, I differ from him here. I'd pull it. If it's been that long sitting crap has settled in the valve covers, low sides of the cylinders. check the valve gaps (esp if you don't know what the push rods are made of), make certain all the oil passages are passing oil. Evaluate the overall condition of the engine. It really depends on how far you have to walk if it stops working.

I will have to pull it at some point regardless.
Even if it ran great and the oil looked perfect , I have to address the holes and cracks in the fiberglass underneath.
While Im at it I would like to figure out a way to put in access panels to make maintenance a little easier.
