I love the "warning system" that our local school put into place. Whenever we have school delays here they have an automated system that calls the houses of all the teachers and all the parents.

The call comes shortly after 5am.

Basically it says now that you are awake to know about it, your kid gets to stay in bed for 2 more hours. Great system. I think I need more sleep than my kid

Bob,

Does your school district have an "opt in" (or out) for that system?

Same system here, except there could be two flakes on the ground when they call. When it finally does snow enough to warrant canceling school, they have already gone over their allotment of snow days.

We have a system where we get an email first thing and a Text message on our mobile phone...also they give out info on school closures on the local radio station.

Me i just like them to go to school:clap:....but this week is half term and they are home....Grrrrrrrrrrr

Northwest Indiana is pretty much shut down right now. Not due to snow, but to and ice storm that is UNDER the snow. Makes for fun driving. Took me an hour and a half to drive what usually takes 20 minutes. Today is a fun day for me, I've got all sorts of meetings set up in several different cities all scattered around the area. Delayed one, that will probably be the last thing I do today.

Schools ended up switching from DELAY to CANCELLED. They are saying we are going to get a "significant" snowfall tomorrow evening. Hopefully after rush hour? Don't bet on it though.
