Kart racing last night

Started the night off with a visit to Autobahn Country Club. First thing we did was we were taken for a ride around the long track in a Tesla S Plaid by one of the members of the club. They cleared the track for us. A couple of guys were practicing with their track karts powered by Hyabusa 1500cc engines, over 200 horsepower motorcycle engines. First lap was fast, but then the brakes started fading. So only did three laps. But it was fun. Odd being in a car with no engine noise, but there was a noise nonetheless.

Then ẅent to the kart track. Did 2 10 minute practice sessions. Lots to learn on how to navigate the track line. Best lap time in those 10 minute sessions was 55.6 seconds. Everybody else, who are were doing this much more than just fun, guys that are club members, along with some that have done this way more than once, and were in the 48 to 49 second lap times.
Then we did the first 10 minute race which set us up for the 3 lap qualifier. I was second to last, so in the race, started P2. Ya. I sucked.
The main race is 40 minutes long. I came in 4th from last, but my best lap time was 50.4 seconds. I shaved 5 seconds of my lap time. I was getting real good toward the end. Barely used the brakes and was controlling sliding much better. Next time I go I will concentrate on moving my weight around in the kart. I was starting to do that near the end of the 40 minutes and could feel the difference through the turns.
This morning, back is sore. My left knee hurts a bit but i think that's because after the main race, I exitted the kart and twisted at my knee. Amateur move.
And arms and shoulders a little sore from fighting the wheel; you really have to yank on the wheel in some of the turns.
Overall. 70 minutes of kart time and a major bit if fun.

No pics. I was driving. Or trying to.
I should have taken some while waking around.
They have about a dozen factory cars there for members to drive on Fridays if they want.
And then there's billinaires row. A number of garages/ houses owned by filthy rich people and they have exotics they run on the track.

Sounds like so much fun. What engine was in the carts? Any idea how fast the carts could go?

The track near me, they run Honda GX270 engines with at top speed of around 45MPH. Due to turns, it's rare to get to full speed.

On a good day like today and depending on what they're running, I can hear the cars from home (they do a lot more than karting).
Today, they're running Porsche's on the full circuit which is 2.86 miles. They have 400 acres.

I was going to say it sounds like the carts I drove in Pigeon Forge. But your additional info in the 2nd post lets me know your place is much more than that. WOW. Sounds too cool. Nothing like that near me.

Same engines but must be geared differently. On the straight we hit 55. They are slow to accelerate, so it's probably the gearing.
The wheels are covered in the ones we were in, and the fuel tank was under the steering wheel. Engine on right. Ballast box on left

Could be. The S curve I'm challenged with goes up 14 feet into the first part of the S and then drops to the end of the S. The rest of the track is fairly level. Kart slows down with no braking into that S
