HELEN THOMAS ~ should have been FIRED, she just RETIRED

This woman clearly got off easy in the court of double standards/public opinion. She should have been PROVERBIALLY hung on a cross and publicly flogged. Instead her comments were ignored by most of the media as they tacitly protected one of their liberal leaning louts.

HELEN THOMAS ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT

WASHINGTON, June 7, 2010 – Helen Thomas announced Monday that she is retiring, effective immediately.

Her decision came after her controversial comments about Israel and the Palestinians were captured on videotape and widely disseminated on the Internet.

Thomas later issued a statement: ``I deeply regret my comments I made last week regarding the Israelis and the Palestinians. They do not reflect my heart-felt belief that peace will come to the Middle East only when all parties recognize the need for mutual respect and tolerance. May that day come soon.’’

Thomas will mark her 90th birthday on Aug. 4.

Actually from what I heard today on this her speaking tour booking agent quit her and I'm not sure she had much choice on the retirement either. Yes she should have thought before she opened her mouth but has been a torn in a lot of administration for years now.

What really got me was her smugness after she made her insane statement. She sure seemed really proud of what she said rather than thinking...um, should I have said that?

Unfortunately, in the annals of history, she'll go down as a great reporter. Her true nature and how nasty she clearly is will be conveniently stricken from all records as to insure no posterity will know the true Helen Thomas. Even the person interviewing her was clearly incredulous.

If I were Obama, I'd want every picture with him in it with her burned immediately and distance himself from her as much as possible. I'm not talking about a soft "distance from" like he has from the esteemed Reverend Wright, but a strong "the poor woman is clearly ill" sort of distance from her.

She also isn't a reporter she is a columnist which was raised this morning buy one of the shows. I don't exactly know who the guy was that was talking this morning. He did say though that they never could understand how she got to sit on administration press conferences since she is the only columnist all while the rest are straight news reporters.
