Expansion of organic cultivation of the West Bank urged
Palestinian agronomist Saleem Al-Karmi urged farmers to expand the area of their organic cultivation to enhance their contribution to food security. The agronomist Al-Karmi said that organic cultivation and integrated pest management have proved to be very important in light of their positive results. Al-Karmi noted that an organic farm is planned to be established in the villages of West Bank along farms for integrated pest management. He noted that training is being given to some farmers in this respect. Agronomist Saleem Al-Karmi said all kinds of vegetable will be planted in these projects in order to decide what best fits to allow future development. ​

Agronomist Saleem Al-Karmi said that NGO's is currently implementing an extension program for green house farmers in various areas in the northern district of the West Bank. The program, Al-Karmi said aims at providing preventive information, reducing the use of chemicals, importance of ventilation, and irrigation methods.

The farmer who leases 32 acres of land stopped by my house a couple days ago and dropped on his lease payment for the land I let him use. There was about 2 or 3 inches of snow on the ground when he came by, but an ice/rain storm melted that to nothing. Then we got about 10" of good snow last night, ending early this morning. So I'm not sure that my mind is on farming!

But I will say that from what I can see, the organic produce farmers who work around here seems to be able to get the best prices for their food, so it sure looks like a market niche that is in demand.

I take it your are an agronomist? Do you work for an NGO? Which one?
