Papers were signed today. It is official.

Not sure if everyone is following the news, but the US has been flying REAPER DRONES over northern Mexico. US troops are also inside Mexico on a "training" mission.

Seems like an easy math equation to put 2 + 2 together and come up with the conclusion that US troops are going to be engaging the drug cartels at some point. Maybe sooner, maybe later. But it seems very likely.

Trump administration designates Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations

The Mexican cartels that now bear the designation are: Cartel de Sinaloa, Cartel de Jalisco Nueva Generación, Carteles Unidos, Cartel del Noreste, Cartel del Golfo, and La Nueva Familia Michoacana.

The Trump administration on Wednesday designated several Mexican drug cartels and the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua as foreign terrorist organizations.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio signed the designation, which opens the cartels up for financial sanctions.
The Mexican cartels that now bear the designation are: Cartel de Sinaloa, Cartel de Jalisco Nueva Generación, Carteles Unidos, Cartel del Noreste, Cartel del Golfo, and La Nueva Familia Michoacana.
The international gang Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) is also now a foreign terrorist organization.

I wonder which drug cartel the President of Mexico works for?

Mexico President Claudia Sheinbaum warned the Trump administration on Thursday that her country will not tolerate an invasion of its national sovereignty to target drug cartels.
"This cannot be an opportunity for the U.S. to invade our sovereignty," Sheinbaum said in response to the Trump administration's formal designation of eight cartels as terrorist organizations, CBS News reported. "With Mexico, it is collaboration and coordination, never subordination or interventionism, and even less invasion."
Mexico's two main drug cartels, Jalisco New Generation and Sinaloa, were included in the terrorist declaration. . .
. . .
The CIA has not been authorized to use drones to carry out strikes against the cartels, and information that is being gathered is reportedly being shared with Mexico.
Sheinbaum said Mexico plans to follow through on her promise of expanding legal action against U.S. gun manufacturers if the Trump administration declared the cartels as terrorist groups.

She's on the take from all of them. She's not doing anything to stop this. What are they going to do, send missiles our way?
More importantly to many Americans, what are we going to do without Avocadoes??? :whistling:

It has to be tough for the Cartels to understand US policy makers who, under Obama, were quite willing to facilitate firearm sales to the Cartels. And then later Biden allowed for lucrative migration and drug supply programs that paid them off in high profits.
But now, we want to snuff them out?
No wonder they don't trust us.

Looks like Mexico is trying to protect the cartels.

Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum filed a controversial series of changes to the country’s constitution that would essentially block any investigation or action by foreign law enforcement agencies without their permission. The provisions could enable Mexico to criminally pursue anyone involved in those investigations. The changes come after the United States designated six Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations and announced the intent to eradicate them.
This week, Sheinbaum filed a series of changes to the country’s constitution that, if approved by the legislative branch, would change Articles 40 and 19 of Mexico’s constitution.
“What we want to make clear in the face of this designation is that we do not negotiate sovereignty,” Sheinbaum said. “This cannot be an opportunity on the part of the United States to invade our sovereignty. So, they can name it whatever they want, but with Mexico, it is collaboration and coordination, never subordination, not interference, and much less invasion.”
Sheinbaum has been harshly criticized by political opponents and news outlets in Mexico in the past for appearing to be trying to protect drug cartels from the U.S. government.
In the case of Article 40, Sheinbaum is proposing to add wording that Mexico will not accept any interference, intervention, or other foreign act that would damage the nation’s sovereignty, integrity, and independence. The wording also prohibits violations of Mexican territory via land, sea, or air.
The amendment reads in Spanish: “Also, we will not consent to any intervention in any investigation or prosecution without the express authorization and collaboration of the Mexican State within the framework of the applicable laws.”
The second article that would be changed is Article 19, which would impose the strictest penalties, including prison without bond, for Mexican nationals and foreigners who take part in any violations of Article 40 or weapons violations.

We have been bombing and eradicating Terrorist cells all over the Middle East for decades.
Boots on the ground in Afghanistan, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon. Because they harboured terrorist cells that threaten our assets and our nation. Why is Mexico, or Venezuela, any different?
