Do the Tucker 342A and 442A have the same axles?

Looks like I have found a Tucker 1968 342A parts machine. I'm hoping the 342A has the same axles and the 1974 442A. Does anybody know? Or if the axles can be swapped from one to the other? Or the pumpkins? Thanks!!!!!!!

I've found a site that says the axles found on my 442A were made over the span of these years. But did the 342A use the same axles? (The 342A is a few hundred miles away. So I can't easily just look.)

Maybe I can finally get my 442A fixed! Of course, I'm not really sure my 442A has the original axles. But let's say it does... My pal the mechanic says the 442A has Dodge half ton axles. Here's a photo of the pumpkin with markings.

(The gears are fried.) Thank you!!!

Thanks! That's an interesting site! I'll give them a call. I'm also going to call Cooke's, now Getsno, my local Sno-Cat dealer (where I buy stuff). I may call Tucker themselves--and probably Track too (that's where my Sno-Cat came from).

These two dealers have been really good so far. Time to call them again. Somebody should know about the 342/442 compatibility.

I just looked up the axles again. They are Dodge 8 3/4" 741 castings. I've already asked the seller to look for the ID info. I should find out this morning. I wonder if any 342A's came with the "Sure-Grip" limited slip option? I'll make the Tucker calls. Maybe I can find out.

it would be speculation on my part i would guess the newer machine has dana axles. but what do i know i get around in a snot trac, and unlike Big Al i know i'm not perfect just the closest thing there is to it. what is wrong with yours i could liik around here and maybe come up with a diff for you this summer there were 2 or 3 shipped up here with hemi motors in them i know where 1 is may be able to locate the other one.and pull the diff for you.

Thank you!!! I put an ad on Craiglist. After looking for almost two years a guy called me up last weekend. I was able to buy (only three hours away) a "Sure-Grip" rear and a spare gear set with the 4.56 gears! He had gotten both of the rears with drag racing cars he bought. So I bought a limited slip rear and a ring and pinion set. Both were hardly used (both he and the previous car owner didn't like the ratios). They seemed to be hardly used. So I really lucked out!

With any luck I'll get my Tucker back together next summer. I can't wait!

Thanks again for the help and offer!
