D.C. Mayor "GRATEFUL" for Trump's Intervention into DC Crime Crackdown

D.C. is a federal city, under federal authority. The law on that is very clear.

Chicago, Baltimore, NYC, Memphis, etc etc etc are cities under STATE authority. The law on that is very clear.

It will be difficult, baring riots or some other emergency for Trump to legally send troops in to clean up other city's crime problems. Especially in states where the Governor opposes intervention. So if there is a crime ridden "blue" city in a state with a "blue" governor, legally it would be difficult to send in troops to clean up the city. But a crime ridden "blue" city in a state with a "red" governor, could potentially open the door to troops as governors are empowered to deploy National Guard troops and to ask the federal government for federal intervention.

It will be interesting to see how "blue" mayors and "blue governors" respond to the comments made by Mayor Bowser.

I wish President Trump would ignore Chicago & Baltimore, who don't want him, and sent those assets here.

I think he knows he's limited in what he can do there.
But he's trolling the liberals and lighting a fire under conservatives in those states.

My thought is that both of you are correct.

A blue city in a red state seems like a likely 'target' to show the failures of no-cash bail, of not prosecuting shoplifting, of downgrading/pleading down felonies into lesser crimes, etc.

So there is a level of trolling that Trump is doing. Illinois's governor Prizker along with Chicago's clueless mayor Johnson are both on local TV almost daily with their apoplectic speachifying against Trump's crackdown on crime, yet street interviews of citizens ask for patrols on the CTA trains and in some neighborhoods. Trump is living in the heads of these liberal politicians.

Working with a red state governor who has a blue city crime problem is probably a great solution and a way to really highlight failures going into the mid-term elections.

The problem in St louis is that 90% of the population is working black poor. The other 10% is the rich elite. They vote Democrat period.

Interesting article, blue state governor Wes Moore said he would welcome help from Trump in blue Baltimore.

For purely political reasons, I would support a red state governor calling in the national guard to a blue city inside the red state, to reduce crime in the city. Especially if the city has a Soros prosecutor in office.

Gov. Wes Moore (D-MD) said he would “absolutely welcome” federal support to help lower crime in Baltimore after pushing back on President Donald Trump’s comments about the city’s high crime rates. ​

“I would absolutely welcome federal support, but I also know that federal support is going to be necessary and required,” Moore said on Fox News’s the Will Cain Show on Thursday.​

Moore’s comments came after a back-and-forth between him and Trump regarding Baltimore’s crime rate. When Trump deployed federal troops in Washington, D.C., he also highlighted crime in Baltimore. ​

Moore reiterated he would not activate the Maryland National Guard and wrote a letter to Trump, inviting the president to join him for a public safety walk in September to show Baltimore’s progress in lowering crime. ​

“If there’s anything Maryland has proven over the last two years, it’s that we can achieve performance without being performative,” Moore said. “Progress requires the right tool for the right mission. Asking the patriotic citizen soldiers of our National Guard to police our cities doesn’t meet that test.”​

Trump responded to Moore’s invitation, saying he “would much prefer that [Moore] clean up this Crime disaster before I go there for a ‘walk.’”​
