Buy one and test your theory.Good marketing ploy but I want to see it tow that Porsche from Seattle to Portland non-stop.![]()
I disagree totally. Cybertruck has better stats than any other 'truck' in the EV space. Bed size, gross payload and range.Pretty sure this video is irrelevant to most pick up owners.
Still pretty sure this video is irrelevant to most pick up owners (and buyers). I do think Musk is brilliant, but that does not change my view of this video and doubtfully would not change the view of most pick up owners. This video is great marketing to yuppie cowboy wannabes who have man buns, skinny jeans and drive flashy cars to coffee shops in the coastal citiesI disagree totally. Just like your beloved AR 15 platform it is way different than all the others. In the future all the others will do their best to try and copy/match the Tesla entry. Elon is not stupid, but sure makes the haters look stupid IMHO.
To date this has been the case. I believe Elon is much smarter than even you...
Time WILL tell what happens. My bet is on Elon and Tesla.

When people understand the cost per mile to drive it, expect that mood to change. The EV FUD is thick and heavy right now as Legacy auto stops their attempt for EV's. This failure is a distraction, and this is to Tesla's advantage.“…In the EV space…”
says it all right there ;-)
The appeal might be a good bit higher than most realize. The haters who reviewed and drove it soon changed their minds. over 70% of pre order's say they will execute. 70% of 2.5M is a lot of Tesla trucks!Still pretty sure this video is irrelevant to most pick up owners (and buyers). Hate to say it but it's no different than the flexing that Ford and Chevy did back in the '70s and '80s and '90s. Carrying other brand pickups, trailer trains of logs, it's just marketing.Still pretty sure this video is irrelevant to most pick up owners (and buyers). I'll throw this little tidbit in also. When all the diesel performance guys all of a sudden figure out how much easier than diesel it is to get the torque and the speed there will be people switching there also. That's the only reason that all these kids and half of the people that drive diesels have them. And yes I cannot prove those numbers. I'm just going by a gut Guess. The amount of people that tow with the diesels in your area may be different than my area. But the diesel guys are already questioning when you're paying $1.60 a gallon more than gas. Why did I buy a diesel again? When people understand the cost per mile to drive it, expect that mood to change. The EV FUD is thick and heavy right now as Legacy auto stops their attempt for EV's. They are entering Legacy autos last domain, personal trucks. In time as it is they will give up half of their market in trucks. The economics will decide this. 8 cents per mile is a powerful force to recon with. ICE is more like 75 cents per mile Tesla has NONE of the baggage Legacy auto cannot ditch. EV adoption is doubling year over year in the USA
Add to this the best charging stations that are being added at about 20 new locations a week. Add to that the option of full self driving, coming soon to all Tesla vehicles. My bet is in a couple of years, you will be proven wrong.
It is really hard to stand in the way of progress for very long.
Where do you get $.75/mile? My Silverado gets 21mpg - that would make gas $15.75/gallon! Indeed, the tru cost is more like $.14/mile. When I consider my work car (Hyundai Tucson) that gets 34/mpg, that figure drops to $.09/mile……8 cents per mile is a powerful force to recon with. ICE is more like 75 cents per mile…
Tesla convert 90% of their energy to mechanical energy. You are not figuring in anything but fuel. There are maintenance costs as well. Tesla has no oil changes for engine, and no transmission either. Braking force is used to recharge the battery.Where do you get $.75/mile? My Silverado gets 21mpg - that would make gas $15.75/gallon! that’s a small price to pay, to be able to pull off the freeway and be back on the road fully fueled in about 10 minutes - wherever I want, without having to hunt for a “supercharger”…Your ICE vehicle puts the bulk of the heat in the fuel out the tail pipe and cooling system, along with radiation. This amounts to a 70% loss,
Anyone who dislikes Elon Musk Will not either. When anyone recognizes that the evs are a grand idea from Biden, they will never buy one. Biden has never had an intelligent idea or concept.
I'm kind of curious because I get this from people all the time. Why can you not have different tools for different uses ? If I own one EV I need to sell all my ice vehicles? It seems like people who dislike Ev have the same 25 punch list items that they just keep repeating over and over. A lot of different tools for a lot of different jobs.@300 H and H
Would you trade your IC tractors to electric models?
In case you missed it, many state (and eventually the Federal) governments are putting in place BANS on future production/sale of IC vehicles - some as soon as 2030. So I’ll flip your question back at you - why does the government seek to limit my “tool selection” to only EV vehicles?I'm kind of curious because I get this from people all the time. No idea. I'm not the government of the states that are banning ice vehicles. I also choose not to live in one of those states. If you actually think they are going to do that (and make it work )by 2030, I'd like some of the Kool-Aid you're drinking. It ain't going to happen. Feel good legislation. In case you missed it, many state (and eventually the Federal) governments are putting in place BANS on future production/sale of IC vehicles - some as soon as 2030. People buy classic cars, performance cars, antique cars, and other items. They don't need all the time. Last time I checked no vehicles make money. They are a depreciating asset. I'm not a salesman. I'm not going to try to sell you anything.Second, I have an IC truck that serves ALL my needs. WHY should I add an EV at $80k to my garage that will only serve SOME of my needs? Even if it is cheaper to operate, how long would it take me to recoup the $80k??
Lol I never said I agreed with the 25 items or that even any of the 25 items made any sense. I've never once tried to get anyone to buy an EV. Other than maybe my wife. I'm assuming you're talking about the government forcing someone to buy one. Last I checked there's lots of ice vehicles out there for sale. The price of gas is low get er done dude.Oh, and 25 “punch list items” is a pretty lengthy list in my book. Again - buy your EV and be happy, but stop trying to force them on everyone else.
Check again - contractors pickups, tow trucks, delivery trucks, landscapers… the list is pretty lengthy.…Last time I checked no vehicles make money….
You just made a list of depreciating assets. Without the human that's operating it its not making money. I suppose the exception would be a classic car.Check again - contractors pickups, tow trucks, delivery trucks, landscapers… the list is pretty lengthy.
Perhaps you don’t understand the concept of using a tool to make an income? The contractor without a pickup makes no money. The truck driver without a truck makes no money. Both of those individuals INVEST in a vehicle to practice their livelihood. Neither can do so without their vehicle. You just made a list of depreciating assets. Without the human that's operating it its not making money. I suppose the exception would be a classic car.
It's always interesting to see how other people's minds work. I'll let you go ahead and buy that pickup and park it in your yard and see how much money it makes you. You are exactly right. It is a tool. Without someone who knows how to use the tool, it does not make you money.Perhaps you don’t understand the concept of using a tool to make an income?
