First storm of the season, still down in the Caribbean so several days away. Looks to be a whopper of a storm now, hopefully it will fade before it hits the eastern seaboard. Predictions are heavy rains, but it hopefully will not hit as a hurricane when it makes its way up to the US.

Tropical storm Erin strengthened Saturday morning into a Category 5 storm in the Caribbean, according to the National Hurricane Center.
The storm as of 11 a.m. was 105 miles north of Anguilla and moving west at 17 mph. Erin is not expected to make landfall but will dump heavy rains across the region, according to the Associated Press.
Erin is the first Atlantic hurricane of 2025.
North Carolina’s Outer Banks; Long Island, New York; and Cape Cod, Massachusetts are at higher risk of direct and potentially severe tropical storm or hurricane conditions, according to AccuWeather.
