Bob,
The "cash for clunkers" ends tomorrow. Dealers have to have all the paperwork submitted by 8PM tomorrow and some have stopped honoring it since they don't know if they can get the paperwork in on time.
Did you get something?
Well actually I did NOT trade in my truck.
I could not get the car I wanted, I had to take one without some of the options that I wanted so I simply will wait and buy what I want.
Further, the dealers stopped offering any deals. Appears one of the MANY unintended consequences of this program is that the dealers began marking their cars up to FULL MSRP prices, and in some cases OVER MSRP prices because the government was giving consumers a windfall for their pieces of crap, the dealers, sitting on high demand vehicle decided to "spread the wealth around"

BTW, the only way to "order" a car under the Clunker program is for the dealer to be able to type in the VIN number into the sales records. That is not possible unless the car is here in the US. With an import, and one fitted the way I wanted it, I could not order a 2010 and get a VIN to plug into the system. So my truck sits idle. Maybe I'll put signs on it and park it out front again!
I'm going to wait, get what I really want, and when the artificial demand is gone, twist the dealers arms while they are starving for sales. I do really like the little diesel Jetta. If I can get a 2010 model with the whistles and bells, it will probably be sitting in my driveway, but only after all this nonsense is over.
