Aquariums

Not currently but I did keep salt water tanks, both fish and reef, for years when I lived in Loozyana.

Ditto on the fact that I do not. But I used to have them when I was a kid. Mine were regular fresh water aquariums. I love them, just don't seem to have one.

When I built this house 13 years ago, I built a Koi pond on the lower level of the foyer. It is about 4' wide, 3' deep and 8' long. There were provisions made for a waterfall to spill into it. It was built, but never filled with water. I used a heavy duty pond liner for the interior and the walls are made from 2x6 PT lumber. A set of stairs wraps around 2 sides of it. Because we had a 4 day old baby when we moved into the house we figured having a large pit of water would be a baby hazard so it was converted into a "zen" type rock garden with a couple of silk trees that rise up from the lower level of the foyer to the main level. I still have thoughts of taking out the rocks and trees and making it into an aquarium.

I love that place! I can spend days wandering around looking at the fish. The shows are OK, but I prefer the exhibits. The lovely Mrs_B thinks its boring and prefers the Field Museum. A fun place to go is the Peggy Nortbart Museum just north of Lincoln Park Zoo. They have a big room for butterflies where you can walk into the exhibit and play with dozens of species of butterflies. The butterfies are kept in the room by "air pressure doorways"
