2004 Ford Excursion For $7,700.00????

Back On Track
Early today another FF member sent me a link to a government auction for a 2004 Ford Excursion V-10 gas, 8 passenger, well equipped unit, 56,000 total miles, 4X4 up for auction. He thought it would make a nice vehicle to use the Mattracks on and haul up to 8 or more people at one time. Jan worked the auction today and we now own this ex-government unit for $7,700.00. Next week we head to Colorado to pick it up. The NADA average trade in price is $11,450.00 and clean retail is currently $15,125.00. It looks like SUV prices at auction are a bargain with todays gas prices if anyone is looking at such vehicles. Here are a couple pics. I think it will work out good as the winter Mattrack commuter vehicle at our mountain home or maybe it will get resold with the Mattracks as an option. :thumb:

I've been looking at the Omaha, KC, and Springfield, Mo GSA auctions for a couple of months and haven't seen anything close to that good a deal in a pick up truck -- good job on the Excursion!

Yep, it is a secret though I may want to buy some more........... I also bought a Chevy Suburban..........................

I just saw a E350 van with a V-10 on Ebay for dirt cheap... if I had the money I would be bidding on it.

Here is some follow up info on the 2004 Ford XLT Excursion 4X4 we just purchased. We picked it up in Denver on Monday AM and drove it home. I averaged about 14MPG running the speed limit of 75mph on the interstate highway for about 450 miles. The seller recently completed 1K+ of mechanical work on this vehicle which included new battery, brake work all around, fluids all changed including brake and radiator flushed and changed. Overall it is in much better mechanical shape than I anticipated and has been throughly detailed out. It has some minor scratches which may polish out along the side with one very small 1/4 panel ding. The rear door lock was not functioning but I was able to fix it yesterday as it needed cleaned and aligned to function like new again. One tire has a small chunk of rubber missing. I will probably replace all 4 with Cooper 10 ply M&S which will also fit on our other truck we run the Mattracks on in the winter. We are not sure if we want to Mattrack the Excursion as it is a nicer rig than we anticipated when we bought it on the auction block. :thumb:

Today Jan is following another Ford truck at auction. If the price stays reasonable we may bid it and resell hopefully at a profit. It high books at about 13K and should sell for less than half that at auction. She will wait and see who really wants it the most..........her or someone else as we have set our limits on bidding...........:ermm:

Sounds like you've got another retirement hobby there! Just keep your inventory lean and you should have fun.

Dang. Good deal for sure. :thumb:
