HAMAS agrees to give up Hostages . . . possible Surrender???

As a Catholic I am called to forgive in order to be forgiven. However, I don't know if that applies to the Jews in Israel whose families have been destroyed by the terrorists of Hamas.

The Jew in me (grandma on mom's side was born Jewish) might call for a Biblical retribution of an eye for an eye as outlined in the Old Testament/Tora.

Hamas says it is ready to release hostages and accept parts of Trump's Gaza peace plan

The statement comes after Trump gave Hamas a Sunday deadline to agree to the terms of his peace deal.

The terrorist organization Hamas on Friday said that it is ready to release all Israeli hostages and discuss President Donald Trump's proposed peace agreement.
The statement comes after Trump gave Hamas a Sunday deadline to agree to the terms of his peace deal.
Hamas also signaled an agreement to give up power in the Gaza Strip as a way to end its war with Israel, according to the Associated Press. Israel has already agreed to the proposed peace plan.
Hamas said in a statement that the group "affirms its readiness to immediately enter into negotiations through the mediators to discuss the details of this agreement. The movement also renews its agreement to hand over the administration of the Gaza Strip to a Palestinian body of independents (technocrats), based on Palestinian national consensus and Arab and Islamic support."
Trump warned the group earlier Friday that if it did not agree to his terms, then Israel had the full support of his administration to “finish the job of destroying the threat of Hamas.”
The plan is expected to end the Middle Eastern war and all hostages dead and alive are expected to be released by Hamas within 72 hours.

Looks like a lot of room for skepticism about what HAMAS may or may not be agreeing to.

I saw one survey and roughly 85% of there respondents said that HAMAS was just stalling to buy more time.

Now this story at the Daily Caller by Mariane Angela comes with actual analysis, something I didn't see from the NY Times coverage.

Former U.S. Army Special Forces operator Jim Hanson said on Fox Business Friday that a statement from Hamas concealed “poison pills” that could derail any lasting peace effort.
Hamas said it is prepared to hand over all remaining hostages and step aside under President Donald Trump’s ceasefire plan, provided there is collective agreement among Palestinian factions and approval from Arab and Islamic allies. Speaking on “The Evening Edit,” Hanson called the group’s insistence on full integration into a future Palestinian governance framework a non-starter and accused Hamas of clinging to an agenda rooted in terror and fantasy.
“There are definitely a couple of poison pills in the Hamas statement. The biggest one is that the end state they anticipate is a unified Palestinian framework with Hamas completely involved. No, that’s not going to be the way it plays out,” Hanson said. “They need to put down their weapons. They need to renounce their decades-long genocidal attempt to drive the Jews into the sea and accept the fact that the Palestinian people are moving on without them.”
The looming Sunday deadline still stands, Hanson said.
“They don’t seem to have come to that conclusion yet, and they’re acting like they’re reading from some sort of a la carte menu rather than 20 points they need to agree to, or President Trump’s going to give Bibi Netanyahu the green light,” Hanson added.
“I think the deadline will still be in place. I don’t think it’s a shock either that there was a drug boat coming from Venezuela that was turned into flotsam on the surface of the Caribbean right about this time.”
Hanson warned that the terror group still isn’t negotiating in good faith.
“It was a reminder to Hamas that the end state could be rubble doesn’t make trouble if they don’t go ahead and start acting seriously,” Hanson said. “There are legitimate concerns that need to be addressed, and this is not the time they were talking about. You know, they’ll release some hostages and then they’ll get to negotiations about the details.”
Trump said that Hamas must agree to the ceasefire terms by 6 p.m. EST on Sunday or face an overwhelming military response. He posted the ultimatum on Truth Social Friday, calling it the group’s “last chance” to avoid destruction.
Palestinians under Hamas control have urged the group to take the deal, hoping to end the chaos and suffering. United Nations’ figures show more than 33,000 people have been displaced in Gaza, with nearly one in four facing severe hunger amid daily mass casualty events.
Under Trump’s plan, Hamas must release all hostages and surrender control of Gaza to an International Stabilization Force. Palestinian technocrats would advise the force, while Trump and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair would jointly lead it.

Israel is pulling back troops to a pre-agreed upon line. Hamas must confirm ceasefire.

Israel agreed to US President Donald Trump’s proposed initial Gaza Strip withdrawal line, Trump claimed in a Truth Social post on Saturday.
The line has been shown to Hamas, Trump noted, adding that “the ceasefire will be IMMEDIATELY effective,” when the terror group confirms.
This will include the exchange of hostages and prisoners, Trump stated.
In addition, it will “create the conditions for the next phase of withdrawal, which will bring us close to the end of this 3,000 YEAR CATASTROPHE,” the president wrote.

And now HAMAS is making new demands.

One of the provisions is that HAMAS must, within 72 hours, give up the hostages.

HAMAS now is demanding that they need to have some major terrorists released in an effort to continue the negotiations plus Israel must pull back farther.

At some point I suspect Gaza will be totally destroyed due to the delaying actions of HAMAS.

Hamas balks at truce talks, demands release of top terrorists in exchange for hostages

Talks in Sharm el-Sheikh on Trump’s ceasefire plan face new hurdles as terror group insists Israel free four high-profile prisoners and commit to a full Gaza pullout before any hostage release

. . . According to one of the key clauses in Trump’s proposal, Hamas must release all 48 hostages—both the living and the dead—within 72 hours, while the IDF would simultaneously withdraw to the so-called “yellow line.” Hamas officials, however, now say they will not agree to release all captives before a full Israeli withdrawal.
Reports indicate that the list of Palestinian prisoners Hamas is demanding to free includes several it considers “aces”—Marwan Barghouti, Ahmad Saadat, Hassan Salameh, Abbas al-Sayed and others.
. . .
Meanwhile, an Israeli political source said after a day of consultations that U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff is expected to arrive in Sharm el-Sheikh on Wednesday along with Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer is also due to attend. The source said there is “cautious optimism.” Negotiations are progressing, he said, “but we must be very careful, since Hamas can raise obstacles or backtrack at any moment.” . .

Time to take out our s bunch of hamas leaders. A whole bunch

The sad fact is that HAMAS has broken every deal it has ever made.

The 20 point plan, agreed to by every Muslim nation except Iran, does not allow HAMAS to set their demands. It is a way for HAMAS to disband, disarm and leave with their lives. They seem to be defiant and want to set some sort of tone that they are in a position to actually negotiate. They are not.

If they agreed to negotiate on Sunday evening at the deadline, the clock started ticking then. 72 hours. That puts it, in my simple mind, with a deadline of Wednesday evening. Release the damn hostages. Or face Israeli wrath. Honestly it seems pretty simple to me. But I'm a simple guy. The world agreed on this plan. HAMAS has nowhere to turn. Release them or face annihilation.

2 years ago TODAY the citizens, Palestinians, of Gaza were dancing and celebrating HAMAS in the streets.

Don't forget that HAMAS is widely popular in Gaza.

Don't forget that the citizens of Gaza support HAMAS.

Even if the popularity of HAMAS is dropping it is still the controlling body of government in Gaza and has widely popularized the concept of intifada and killing ALL Jews. In fact, they proclaim they want to kill the Jews first, then the Christians.

Hamas has agreed to a peace deal pushed by President Donald Trump to end the war in Gaza and return the hostages, two years after the terrorist network attacked Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, sparking not only the bloodiest day for Jews since the Holocaust, but a deadly war and a humanitarian crisis across the Gaza Strip.

Trump took to Truth Social Wednesday to make the announcement: "I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan. This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace. All Parties will be treated fairly! This is a GREAT Day for the Arab and Muslim World, Israel, all surrounding Nations, and the United States of America, and we thank the mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, who worked with us to make this Historic and Unprecedented Event happen. BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS!"

Reactions: Doc
President Trump used trade tariffs to help put this together.

  • CALLS FOR PEACE: The Israeli Cabinet was planning to convene later to vote on whether to approve the deal. Scenes from Gaza of devastation and hunger, as well as a famine declaration, have prompted outrage around the world and left Israel isolated diplomatically.
  • HOSTAGES TO BE RELEASED: The White House said that it expects hostages to be released Monday. Forty-eight hostages remain to be returned, of whom Israel says it believes 20 are still alive.
  • TOLL OF TWO-YEAR WAR: The agreement comes almost two years to the day after the Hamas-led terrorist attacks on Israel that killed 1,200 people. Since then, more than 67,000 people have been killed in Gaza, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
  • 20-POINT PLAN: Read Trump’s plan for peace in Gaza. It was not immediately clear whether the parties had made any progress on thornier questions about the future of the conflict, including whether Hamas will demilitarize, as Trump has demanded, and eventual governance of the war-torn territory.

I’m not confident this comes to fruition and if it does and Israel doesn’t bomb Hamas into oblivion after, I’ll be disappointed!

Well it appears that not all is going along as planned.

The 20 Point plan for peace in Gaza requires 2 points that appear to be in dispute.
-- Hamas must disarm.
--Hamas must disband.
The Muslim nations must exert pressure to make sure that Hamas does both, but as of now, it appears that Hamas is going to put up a face of defiance. Yesterday they held a public execution of several people accused of cooperating with Israel.

Hamas openly admits it has no intention of disarming or giving up power in Gaza—two core requirements of the ceasefire deal it accepted just days ago.In an interview last night, Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem declared the group will reject all Israeli demands related to weapons, saying:“We will not be prisoners to Israeli terminology or demands. This will be a key focus in the next phase of our struggle.”Qassem also signaled that Hamas plans to reinterpret the signed agreement on Gaza’s governance—pushing for a governing body that aligns with its agenda and preserves its influence.Hamas is openly defying the peace deal as it prepares for the next war.
