Denial of God is to prefer, and/or admit, mankind is selfish and historically self-indulgent, naturally not benevolent to his fellow man. With no hope of redemption from that natural state. There is, therefore, no hope for civility. Only competition for ultimate power over one another.
The basic instinct of man is to control his environment and his neighbor. Benevolence & Freedom are not natural elements in man any more than it is in other animals of the wild. Giving and protecting Freedom of Thought and Action is not a normal instinct. It must be learned and adopted for civility to prosper.
Hence Charlie Kirks admonition.
"Liberty is not an idea of man. It is an idea from God!"
We are endowed with "GOD GIVEN RIGHTS"
Better than most,,, he knew the truth and was killed for it.
