Laziest gun in the world?

Today I swung my front door wide open and placed my RRA AR15 right in the doorway. I left 6 rounds beside it, then left it alone and went about my business. While I was gone, the mailman delivered my mail, the neighbor boy across the street mowed the yard, a girl walked her dog down the street, and quite a few cars stopped at the stop sign near the front of our house. After about an hour, I checked on the gun. It was still sitting there, right where I had left it. It hadn't moved itself outside. It certainly hadn't killed anyone, even with the numerous opportunities it had been presented to do so. In fact, it hadn't even loaded itself. Well, you can imagine my surprise, with all the media hype about how dangerous guns are and how they kill people! Either the media is wrong or I'm in possession of the laziest gun in the world.

Shocking!!! But I do think my guns would give yours a run for their money in the lazyiest of all contest. Maybe it's not guns that shoot people, maybe it's people who shoot people ...and if they can't shoot them they hammer them or ball bat them or push em off a cliff. Guns might just be one of many tools bad people can use to harm other people. just a thought ...

Your experiment made me curious so I replicated it using all the guns in the house. Not a single rifle, shotgun, or
handgun did a damn thing; they all just sat around as if they were inanimate objects or something. I don't get it.

Now that has to be the most radical concept I've ever heard! It can't be right; for at least 30 years the entire media
apparatus has been telling me "Guns Kill!" You're suggesting that they're all wrong? You must be kidding!

Since your results may be a cultural thing and/or weather related due to warmer climates, I replicated this experiment up here in Canada. I got the exact same results. Not a single shot fired. The amo didn't load itself. The trigger never pulled. I even went a step further and loaded it and sat it down. I then stepped back and observed it. After two hours it never moved. Never fired. Nothing.

Staring contests are one of their 'stock' games; they say it's 'gripping'. Personally, I'd like to 'muzzle' that sort of comment, but they swear it's outta 'sight'. Maybe I should just go 'clip' some coupons out of my 'magazines' ... using 'safety' scissors, of course!

Gosh, I love this thread. While I have not tried the experiment. You see here in NJ, leaving the door open and armed would trigger certain things that would contaminate the experiment.

In my church we have a retired couple who are spending their retirement pushing liberal agendas on facebook. Gun control being one of them. Oh how I would love to post the meme about Timothy McVey (SP) killing more people than Sandy Hook and hje didn't use a gun at all.

My husband had a FFL for 20 years until the City of Los Angeles did it's thing. Remember the North Hollywood stand off? The LAPD went to B&B Guns for the fire power that they needed. They were given whatever they needed no questions asked. Guess what? Since then the lovey City has implemented laws and B&B moved out of Los Angeles. Most gun dealers have followed suit. LAPD no longer has the backup resources that they might need in the future. Call it stupid?

Rarely do they take the time to think things through and try to get an understanding on what ramifications their actions will bring about. Feel good in the moment.

The Law of Unintended Consequences strikes again! Knee jerk reactors - emphasis on "jerk" - would do well to recall
some of the examples of this law, such as the ban on DDT leading to more deaths worldwide, not fewer.

But forks and spoons are eating tools and guns are killing tools.
And I do kill quite often some of my food.

Guns are also target tools. I've never hunted but I do enjoy target shooting. My husband and son also enjoy the sport. My brother in law was California State Champion in target competition. I don't know anyone who hunts. It's all target shooting.

So spons are for juggling or bending in circus acts but as origins are tools for eating.
Agree that 90% of bullets this days hit targets.
But as you know target shooting guns are a specialized field apart from regular firearms.

100% agree.
My brother has a concealed weapon permit and it gives one a "high" when in public.
Carrying a firearm in the wilderness makes one superior to the animals.
Gives him/her life and death powers.

And I do have some guns but do too much damage to my food if used.
