Cute movie, very enjoyable family fare for families with teens and above. There is no swearing but there is a good deal of violence and supernatural activity. I wouldn't recommend it for pre-teens, it might creep them out.

There is also a seriously pro-gun message in the shopping mall shooting scene :hammer:

All you have to do is think about the statement from Wayne LaPierre of the NRA when he said: all it takes to defeat a bad guy with a gun is one good guy with a gun.

I've read pretty well everything by Dean Koontz. I'm convinced his writing is what you get when you take someone who is very well educated, give them just enough LSD to not kill them and then turn them loose on a word processor. Many of his books end up with the main action occurring in a church too! Odd, but he makes it work somehow. I've never seen a movie based on one of his books though. Strange they picked his "Odd" character. He is okay, but not one of my favorites.

Well educated, on LSD, turned loose on a word processor. Yup, that describes the movie pretty well.

My wife, daughter and sister-in-law all enjoy the Odd Thomas books. I've never picked one up. My wife thought the movie was simply OK, and I'll agree. Its not a great movie, but it was a fun movie in a very quirky way.
