US Military WILL help Israel if Iran enters war between Lebanon/Israel

According to a United Nations analysis, the US is expected to enter the war if Iran jumps into the war.

Biden is, of course, sending out confusing messages.

But the US deployed a carrier fleet to the middle east and has moved more ships into the region.

We already have 40,000-ish troops in the region.

Right now Israel has Hamas nearly destroyed in Gaza, the problem there is the citizens overwhelmingly support Hamas. From the tiny children to the women to the elderly. Hamas has brainwashed all of them for at least an entire generation. So support for Hamas, while it is down from its high point, is still high.

Right now Israel has Hezbollah on its heels. Its command and control are crippled. Literally 70+% of their top commanders have been killed. Many of their most senior commanders are dead. The rank and file are essentially leaderless. The top leader of Hezbollah is probably hiding in the basement of an Iranian or other 'friendly' nation embassy and issues proclamations but remains unseen and in hiding.

US Military Will Intervene On Behalf Of Israel If Iran Enters Lebanon Fray, UN Analyst Warns

Update(1128ET): Once again President Biden has issued contradictory messaging on the current Middle East crisis. With Israel in its second day of greatly ramped-up airstrikes on Lebanon, amid a new declared offensive, Biden asserted what he framed as Israel's right to defend itself. Israel will surely take this as effectively a greenlight from the US administration.
"Any country, any country, would have the right responsibility to ensure that such an attack could never happen again," Biden said while referencing the Oct.7 attack. But then he quickly highlighted that in Gaza, "Innocent civilians" are also "going through hell." He said the "Thousands and thousands killed, including aid workers. Too many families dislocated, crowded in a tent, facing a dire situation." He added: "They didn’t ask for this war.”
And that's when he said he is "determined to prevent a wider war that engulfs the entire region" - but that's looking a little too late at this point, considering the fast-moving Lebanon events.
Israel's military has meanwhile said that the Tuesday airstrike on a building in southern Beirut killed Hezbollah’s rocket and missile division Ibrahim Qubaisi. Lebanese officials have so far said that six were killed and 15 were wounded in the strike, among some 560 total killed in the last day-and-a-half. Hezbollah has yet to confirm Qubaisi's death.
"Over the years and during the war, he was responsible for the launches at the Israeli home front. Qubaisi was a central source of of knowledge in the field of missiles, and was close to the senior military leadership of Hezbollah," the IDF said of the allegedly deceased target.
There are meanwhile growing fears that if Iran enters the conflict directly in Lebanon, the United States could then jump in and it would be escalation chaos to regional conflagration:
Raymond Murphy, a professor at the University of Galway’s Irish Centre for Human Rights, says the situation in Lebanon is “extremely dangerous” and that Israel has attacked to not only defeat Hezbollah but provoke it to respond with increasing force.
“And as a consequence, possibly to bring Iran into the conflict, as well as the Houthis in Yemen, which would force the hand of the United States,”the former UN peacekeeper told Al Jazeera from Galway, Ireland.
"So if the situation escalates and Hezbollah falls for what is essentially a trap that’s being set by the Israelis and responds very forcefully… then the United States will also step in in defense of Israel," Murphy continued. This after yesterday the Pentagon announced it has deployed more troops to the region, but without disclosing their precise mission or deployment base.
Regional correspondents by late afternoon Tuesday (local time) say that Israeli strike on southern Beirut suburbs are becoming more frequent.
* * *
On Tuesday White House national security spokesman John Kirby urged that all Americans should leave Lebanon immediately while there are still flights. Two days of heavy Israeli airstrikes targeting especially Hezbollah strongholds of the south have killed at least 558 people and left 1,835 injured, according to the latest Lebanese Healthy Ministry figures. The situation is growing more urgent as the war comes to Beirut.
"We want to make sure that there are still commercial options available for Americans to leave, and they should be leaving now while those options are available," Kirby told ABC News. The US Embassy in Beirut has since October a year ago issued several alerts and warnings telling Americans to leave the country. . . .

Of course they are afraid of Israel. Who wouldn't be unless they are not in their right mind.

Iran is nothing but a bunch of gutless goat fornicating cowards. A bunch of grease balls who have other people do their fighting for them Like liberals who spend other people's money, they spend other people's lives, not their own.

They were terrified of Trump, because he was the real deal. They are terrified of Israel for the same reason.

If Trump had been in office last October, I don't believe Hamas would have carried out the attacks that have resulted in the conflict escalation we see today. It is the ambiguity, the wishy-washyness, the both sideism, of the Biden/Harris administration that has emboldened Israel's enemies. Trump has stood firmly with Israel against their enemies that want nothing less than the obliteration of Israel. Their enemies are our enemies, and Trump understands that you don't appease them because it only emboldens them.

This "two-state solution" idea that the Biden/Harris admin keeps preaching is garbage. Trump would tell them this: Leave Israel alone or DIE. Period. That kind of hard stance prevents war.

Apparently the Saudi Crown Prince doesn't give 2 shits about Palestine.

Not saying he supports Israel, but he clearly doesn't seem inclined to support a war against Israel.

And really, nobody seems to want the Palestinian movement other than our liberal college campuses. But no Arab nation wants them. many have expelled them.

US stopped Israel from launching Hezbollah war in October based on false alarm – report

Atlantic story on first days of war says US intel discredited suspicions of Hezbollah infiltration, averting strike; claims MBS told Blinken he doesn’t care about Palestinian issue

In the opening days of the war, the US frantically tried to reach senior Israeli officials huddled to plan a major strike on Hezbollah to tell them they were not acting rationally and relying on bad intelligence, according to a US report Wednesday.

US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan eventually managed to pass a dictated note to Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer warning him against launching a preemptive strike against Hezbollah on October 11, according to the Atlantic, which provided further revelations on the 90-minute panic in Israel that evening over a suspected invasion by the Iran-backed terror group.

Without providing sources, The Atlantic reported that top Biden administration officials were persuading the government to avoid launching a preemptive strike on Hezbollah when Dermer informed Sullivan that Hezbollah paragliders had flown across the border — similar to Hamas’s October 7 massacre days earlier — and fired shots at a funeral.

Meanwhile, more than 2 million Israelis were sent to shelters over false sirens in northern communities warning of drone attacks on the evening of October 11. Fears were fueled by media reports that 15-20 drones from Lebanon supposedly crossed into Israeli territory.

The cabinet was poised to approve a preemptive strike on Hezbollah, but the claims of a Hezbollah infiltration could not be backed by the CIA or the US military, The Atlantic reported.

Sullivan failed to directly get a hold of Dermer, who was locked in the cabinet meeting. Instead, he dictated a short note to the minister through his chief of staff, which was said to read: “You’re not making rational decisions. You’re acting in the fog of war on the basis of bad intelligence.”

With Israel still reeling from Hamas terrorists storming across the Gaza border that Saturday and massacring at least 1,200 Israelis in border towns, the prospect of a similarly murderous mass invasion by Hezbollah along the northern border sparked panic in a country on edge.

Israeli fighter jets were already in the air when US President Joe Biden managed to convince Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to stand down at the last minute, according to a Wall Street Journal report in December.

The Atlantic reported that Dermer informed Sullivan that the cabinet had called off the attack 45 minutes after receiving the note, thereby potentially avoiding all-out war with Hezbollah days after October 7.

‘Do I care personally about the Palestinian issue? I don’t’

The Atlantic also shared quotes from a January 8 meeting between US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who expressed interest in normalization with Israel on the condition that Jerusalem would commit to allowing the establishment of a Palestinian state. A Saudi official described The Atlantic’s account of the conversation as “incorrect.”

MBS reportedly also told Blinken during the meeting in Saudi Arabia he would not need the Israelis to commit to a total halt on counterterrorism raids in Gaza in exchange for a normalization deal.

“They can come back in six months, a year, but not on the back end of my signing something like this,” he said, according to the report.

“Seventy percent of my population is younger than me,” the de-facto Saudi ruler reportedly said. “For most of them, they never really knew much about the Palestinian issue. And so they’re being introduced to it for the first time through this conflict. It’s a huge problem. Do I care personally about the Palestinian issue? I don’t, but my people do, so I need to make sure this is meaningful.”

Israel’s commitment to advancing a Palestinian state is considered a key sticking point with the current right-wing Israeli government, which has repeatedly rejected the possibility of such a move, especially in the wake of the October 7 attack, saying that doing so would be tantamount to rewarding terrorism.

After the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war following the terror group’s deadly October 7 onslaught, Saudi Arabia largely put on ice US-backed plans for the kingdom to normalize ties with Israel, two sources familiar with Riyadh’s thinking said earlier this year.

But Saudi officials have continued to publicly and privately say since the start of the war that a normalization deal with Israel is still on its diplomatic agenda, while publicly pushing for a ceasefire in the Gaza war.

MBS, Saudi Arabia’s de facto ruler, said just weeks before the fighting broke out that Riyadh was getting closer to a deal, but talks were essentially frozen in the first months of the war.

‘He just stood there, punching buttons’

Another anecdote shared by the Atlantic appeared to describe the prime minister’s inability to operate a copy machine.

During his October 16 visit to Israel, Blinken worked to convince Netanyahu to open Gaza’s Rafah border crossing to allow badly needed humanitarian aid into the Strip. Until then, Israel had imposed a total closure on the Strip.

According to the report, Netanyahu and Blinken went to make a copy of the agreement they drafted at the Kirya Defense Ministry headquarters in Tel Aviv. Netanyahu struggled to figure out how to operate the machine. “He just stood there, punching buttons,” the report said.

Now that Israel eliminated most of the leadership, will the real Lebanese government attempt to take back their country?
If they don't, then I consider everyone in Lebanon a terrorist.

I think it is a little more nuanced than all-or-none.

Currently 30% of the population is Maronite Christian/Catholic. They totally oppose Hezbollah. Lebanon used to be known as a Christian nation. And then Hezbollah started to roll into town. So Lebanon is now split by Shia (Iran/Hezbollah/Hamas), Sunni (Saudi) and Christian with a little bit of Druze. Shia and Sunni don't much like each other. But somehow Hezbollah has picked up a strong representation in the government, they are not without fierce opposition, but Lebanon officially stated their army is opposed to the Israeli action and will fight for their territory.

Personally I think Lebanon should set up their army north of the UN designated river. The United Nations formally declared a buffer zone, maintaining Lebanese sovereignty but requiring Lebanon to ensure no weapons existing in a narrow strip of land to the north of the Israeli border, and left Lebanon in charge of that. Lebanon NEVER enforced that U.N. agreement and Hezbollah has been building infrastructure for a few decades.

Lots of people in Lebanon are friendly to the US, to Western Culture, and to Israel. Sadly a reasonably large portion also support terrorists. There is some real hope for Lebanon. Even among many of the Muslims, particularly the Sunni, there is a healthy respect for the Maronite communities.

Hezbollah forces in Syria breached the Israeli border fence between the 2 nations and are believed to be attempting an attack.

IDF released this message:

“To the residents of the Golan, Please be advised that due to a suspected breach in the fence in a military zone in the southern Golan, it has been decided to reinforce the readiness of defense units in the following communities: Kfar Haruv, Mevo Hama, Metzar, Afik, Neot Golan, and Eliad. This is a military incident, with no instructions for civilians at this time.”

A US Navy flotilla in the middle east, which is pledged to assist Israel if Iran attacks Israel, was attacked by a barrage of missiles from Houthi positions.

While the US ships are all in tact due to defensive weapons, my question is: HOW DID WE RESPOND?

Our US Navy gets attacks and does not counter? We defend ourselves but we don't punch back? Why not respond, immediately, by taking out their infrastructure and weapons stockpiles? We just sit back and take the hit?

Maybe the war will NOT expand into Lebanon?

The UN resolution dates back to 2006. It was NEVER enforced. Literally passed 18 years ago, and never put into place.

Maybe Lebanon WILL FINALLY do its job and use its military to STOP Hezbollah by enforcing the de-militarized zone, as ordered by the UNITED NATIONS?

Maybe the U.N. will supplement the Lebanese military with peace keeping forces that will actually do something to enhance peace.

Of course, if Lebanon follows through, and if the U.N. gets off its collective ass to help, all it took was 1 defiant nation to stand up to decades of abuse by the U.N. and terrorists and finally put its foot down on the neck of the snake.

Let us hope that Lebanon, now free of the tyranny of Hezbollah, can resist any efforts to resurrect the scattered terror supporters and return to a nation that valued diverse Western culture and values with peace and perhaps a prosperous return to its own economy.

While the US shot down the Houthi attack on the Naval vessels, but did not retaliate, Israel did, in fact, retaliate when the Houthi's shot missiles into their territory.

The Israeli Defense Force released the following statement:

BREAKING: The IAF struck military targets belonging to the Houthi terrorist regime in Yemen in response to their recent attacks against Israel. The targets included power plants and a seaport, which were used by the Houthis to transfer Iranian weapons to the region, in addition to military supplies and oil. Over the past year, the Houthis have been operating under the direction and funding of Iran, and in cooperation with Iraqi militias, in order to attack the State of Israel, undermine regional stability, and disrupt global freedom of navigation. The IDF is determined to continue operating at any distance—near or far—against all threats to the citizens of the State of Israel.

Just an update on the Israeli-Houthi situation.
Reports say that Israel destroyed:
  • Yemen's main airport
  • The Yemeni oil reserves
  • The main port used for both commercial/military oil/food/goods/arms shipments
  • The main Yemeni electrical production facility and much of the transmission infrastructure

And Biden sits dazed and confused, and Kumala bathing in the joy of have so many illegal votes to be cast. So she can continue this reduction of America's past power and leadership.
How can Israel have the balls and intelligence to do this <sarc>? It is such a small country.

Meanwhile, IRAN would dearly love to engage Israel.

Not sure if the USA assurance to Israel are much of a deterrent, but it appears that Mossad is deeply embedded inside Iran.

Imagine;
Israel is taking care of defeating, and eliminating, our nation's sworn enemies for the last 40 years. People who have killed thousands of Americans, in senseless acts of terror, and threatened to continue doing so.
Meanwhile, our President demands they stop and, once again, seek a useless cease-fire.

Pathetic.

Meanwhile that same President is sending money, arms and support to Ukraine in support of Zelinsky's fight with Russia who has committed no such acts of terror against the USA.

Now that Israel is on the ground with the I.D.F. forces, reinforced by tanks and air support, the Lebanese government is speaking some sense. They are saying they are willing to expel Hezbollah in the southern region of the country as per the 2006 U.N. order.

If they are serious, I would think they would work WITH the I.D.F. to accomplish this.

Biden has demanded Israel to cease hostilities in Lebanon. It would seem that it is Lebanon who should consider suing for peace.

Now in real news, the nation of Israel has officially invaded Lebanon in a "limited" ground offensive.
Ongoing and updated, ZeroHedge is leading the reporting on this.

Israel Launches "Limited" Ground Invasion Of Lebanon

Update(1908ET): Israel has named the new cross-border offensive "Operation Northern Arrows". Below is an early description by the IDF as posted to Telegram and other government channels [emphasis ZH]:
IDF troops have begun limited, localized and targeted raids against Hezbollah terror targets in the border area of southern Lebanon
In accordance with the decision of the political echelon, a few hours ago, the IDF began limited, localized, and targeted ground raids based on precise intelligence against Hezbollah terrorist targets and infrastructure in southern Lebanon. These targets are located in villages close to the border and pose an immediate threat to Israeli communities in northern Israel.
The IDF is operating according to a methodical plan set out by the General Staff and the Northern Command which IDF soldiers have trained and prepared for in recent months.
The Israeli Air Force and IDF Artillery are supporting the ground forces with precise strikes on military targets in the area.
Some Lebanese accounts have claimed that Hezbollah has already killed and wounded some invading Israeli soldiers, but these reports will remain hard to verify within the opening hours of the campaign and amid the fog of war.
Heavy strikes on Beirut's southern suburbs during the night hours (local):
* * *
Update(1630ET): The Israeli ground invasion of Lebanon has begun, with various regional news correspondents saying IDF tanks have been spotted breaching areas earlier deemed 'closed military zones'.
"Israeli forces have launched limited incursions in Lebanon, the United States said, as Israel vowed to keep fighting Hezbollah and sealed part of the border after killing the Iran-backed militants' leader," AFP reports.
"This is the moment," Retired Israeli Brig. Gen. Aviv Amiri has told CNN. The southern areas were reportedly subject to carpet bombing raids within the hours prior to the border breach. "We cannot create terms for Israelis to return to their homes without pushing Hezbollah out of South Lebanon, certainly at minimum eight miles, which would be anti-tank missile range," Amiri has said.
Israel's military has also issued new warnings telling Lebanese civilians in the southern suburbs of Beirut to evacuate, ahead of more imminent airstrikes on Hezbollah locations.
Thus a ground war has begun in Lebanon a mere month before the US presidential election. Meanwhile neither President Biden nor VP Kamala Harris have had much to say. Quite the opposite: they might prefer to hide from the media.
There are meanwhile reports that it was a US-provided 2,000 pound bomb which killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah last Friday. Israel's use of the US-supplied "bunker busters" has been described Monday as follows:
A video published by the Israeli military on Saturday showed jets it said were used to carry out the attack carrying at least 15 2,000-pound bombs, including the US-made BLU-109, according to Trevor Ball, a former senior explosive ordnance technician for the US Army who reviewed the footage for CNN.
Biden has meekly called for ceasefire, while simultaneously backing the high level assassination.
Intense airstrikes are now once again hitting the Lebanese capital...
* * *
Israel has been busy over the weekend striking multiple fronts. Not only has it expanded airstrikes on Beirut in the wake of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah's Friday death, but it is attacking Yemen and Syria as well.
Starting late last week into Saturday, Yemen's Iran-linked Houthis announced the launch of several ballistic missiles toward Tel Aviv, which Israel's military said were intercepted. And on Friday, in an incident which went underreported (given headlines were focused heavily on Beirut events), three US warships in the Red Sea came under simultaneous rocket attacks from the Houthis.
"The Houthi said they had targeted three U.S. warships which media reports tonight are identifying as the guided missile destroyers USS Spruance and USS Stockdale and the littoral combat ship USS Indianapolis. They were reported to have been north of the Bab el-Mandeb at the time," The Maritime Executive reported.
"U.S. officials are confirming that warships in the Red Sea were targeted with possibly the largest barrage since the conflict began with the Houthis in Yemen nearly 10 months ago," the publication added.
On Sunday Israeli jets had the assistance of US military intelligence as they conducted a massive airstrike on Yemen's key port of Hodeidah. It happened in the early evening local time. Axios reports that "sensitive" Houthis facilities were on the target list.
Yemen's Health Ministry in the aftermath announced that at least four people were killed and 40 others injured in the Israeli raid, which left massive plumes of smoke over the area. Videos show a huge fire engulfing the port.
Israeli media has confirmed that it was the biggest Israeli strike on Yemen since the conflict began in the wake of Oct.7 of last year. "Dozens of Israeli aircraft, including F-15I fighter planes, participated in the operation, striking 1,800 kilometers from Israeli territory after the Houthis fired three ballistic missiles on the Tel Aviv and central Israel areas in recent weeks, including one on Saturday," Jerusalem Postdetails. . . .

Iran planning an attack on Israel:

The U.S. has indications that Iran is preparing to imminently launch a ballistic missile attack against Israel, a senior White House official tells Axios.
The big picture: Tehran has been vowing retaliation after a series of recent Israeli assassinations. The White House believes it is about to begin, and is already warning of "severe consequences" for Iran.
  • "We are actively supporting defensive preparations to defend Israel against this attack. A direct military attack from Iran against Israel will carry severe consequences for Iran," the White House official said.
  • A senior Israeli official tells Axios the latest intelligence is that the attack will be carried out in the next few hours. The warning from the U.S. came at around noon local time (5am ET), the official said.
Driving the news: The expected Iranian attack would come soon after Israel launched its invasion of southern Lebanon on Monday targeting Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militia.
  • Iran has been promising retaliation against Israel for two months, since the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
  • Iran has yet to respond to that attack, and also rebuffed urging from Hezbollah to launch an attack against Israel within the past two weeks, Axios reported.
  • U.S. and Israeli officials have been concerned that the Israeli ground invasion and the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah — a longtime ally of Iran's supreme leader — would push Iran to change course and get more directly involved to save the militia it has built for decades.

I guess Iran isn't paying attention.
Hamas attacked Israel - Israel wiped them out.
Hezbollah attached Israel - Israel is wiping them out, starting with leadership.
Iran attacks Israel - watch what happens. I wouldn't want to be in a leadership position in Iran right now.

Israel received over 100 missiles from Iran about noon our time today.
The sky over Israel is full of them
Iran says more are coming.
So,

Are we at war?

Perhaps someone should tell Joe?
