Why did you buy/restore your snowcat? Inspiration?

I was working in Salt Lake City in the early 1990s and found several retired KRISTI snowcats awaiting a federal auction. I had to move on before they came up, but I never forgot those innovative little cats. It was decades before I found a KT3 for sale in Montana. Picked up a salvage KT2 a few years later. These things are well within my budget and mechanical abilities. Plus, more fun than the circus to operate. This site has been instrumental in getting me to pull the trigger as well as keeping her on the snow.

I have an off grid mountain property, so far had a thiokol 603, and a Tucker 442, both bought and sold on this site. I now use a tracked Mitsubishi mini cab van. Easier to haul, less fuel by a lot, comfortable like a car and it does the job I need it too.
