Shows like the Bachelor

Seems that shows like the Bachelor are very popular nowadays.
Well long story made short, I was approached by a few people who would Like to make a somewhat similar show, but a Canadian version of it.
It wouldn't be as lavish, no trips all over the world, no mansion on a hill, but more realistic dates, lower budget.
My question is, do you think that the public would be into it?
 
I've never seen the bachelor or the bachelorette, only commercials for them.
I've never been interested in watching one of them nor would I be interested in the version you are talking of.
They are geared or the 20 somethings I'd guess. And they love rich and lavish, so I doubt a lower budget version would do as good as the originals.
