Report Your Snow Depth

Easy does it on this section of road until the base gets established. Its easy to lose the downhill track in the soft stuff here.
Finally had time to watch the video great expose of control and finesse. when the camera zooms in you can really see the snow falling away on the down hill side.

Total crap so far, maybe 2” on the ground but snowing lightly today, 2-4” forecasted. My Imp is withering away and pissed off…as am I.
Still enjoying my time at the cabin regardless but would be nice to hear the roar of the machine chewing up some snow

I still have my home built snowcat, but just built a snow bike with half of a 144” sled track and a Predator 212cc motor.

Little donkey rips along at about 12-14mph, has very low complexity, takes up very little space, and cost $1000 to build, and consumes very little fuel.

I’m a fan of both, but simplicity is nice.

literally cut in half and buckled or did you do an aligator clamp?

very slick , I cut a yamaha inviter track in two *length wise* and then my project stalled as the 90 in length was still too long, I will have to revisit that dream some day

Yeah I mean I only have 20 miles on the Flexco splice but under this low HP it seems to work fine. Just have to be tedious about getting alligator splice cleanly installed. Took one practice attempt on spare track piece.

I don't want to rock the snowcat boat forum, but these little simple machines I find much less stressful to operate. If they break down, who cares, and they are SO easy to fix and diagnose. Also very very easy to build.

Im being sassy....

And warm... i wanted to hang what i was trying to build next to the snowshoes on the drag. If i need to walk out this would supplant the snowshoes to planc

Yup it’s a good back up plan. If you build one as a track sled without seat/fork/ski it’s only about 150lbs and 3.5ft long.

Cut that shit in two. Then used Flexco alligator splicing. Holding up well to the massive 8hp.

Going to build a few more. One for the neighbor, my wife, kid. Such an easy build.
Do you got any plans for them ????? I have a old formula 700 the engine is toast sounds like a donor for parts.

New years eve up at my place. Whimpy snow, 6" or so.
Woke up this morning at 5am, to a growling Cougar under my cabin. I think my dog chased him under there. Somewhat unnerving to say the least. He didn't want to leave so we snuck out the back door once the sun came up. "Nice kitty, just stay right there".

Man those damn things are bold sometimes. Woman just got killed in CO by one.
Yeah I just saw that on the news a minute ago. Some sort of karma thing going on for me today. At least my kitty gave me some warning. I had my H&K .40 in hand as we boogied to the truck.
I'm still a bit shook up, too freaking close for my liking.

I built a similar animal decades ago......... a modified Chrysler Sno Runner. I still have all the bits and pieces, but it is no longer in assembled condition. (The engine went back on the 1963 Ski Doo R-6 that It came from).

The pic is from Lake Charlevoix in Michigan. I was about to go scuba diving on the wreck of the "Keuka". (We do it every February).

I just happened to stumble across the pic in my "downloads" folder... and decided to post it here. (Took me forever to find this thread, again).
