Is anyone watching the Discovery Channel mini-series "Planet Earth"? The video footage is absolutely stunning. I have been seriously tempted to run out and buy an HDTV just to watch this show.
Yep, I caught one of the showings on Monday (Mountains). So I set my DVR to record all of the others. It is awesome in HDTV. These are the first shows that make me glad to have HDTV. I've never seen anything like it.
With or without HDTV, these shows get 5 stars out of 5. They are very well done with images never caught on camera before. The snow leopard in it's natural habitat on the prey was amazing.
You just got to see it for yourself. My words sure do not do it justice.
The snow leopard hunting scene was simply jaw dropping. I'm sure everyone has seen videos of leopards or cheetas in Africa chasing their dinner. Now imagine that same scene on a 60 degree rocky mountain side, in the snow!
The Discovery Channel is doing an encore presentation of "Planet Earth". If you didn't catch it the first time, it's worth it.
I also caught "Fearless Planet" last night. I can't speak for the other episodes but the one they played last night was very good. It discussed what has happened to earth over the past 4.5 billion years and how different features of earth were created.
