This is one of the longest straight staircases in the world, located on the island of Saint Helena in the Atlantic Ocean

Nope, no way I would attempt this. Would you?

What ever is at the top of the staircase must be something special.
Look up "Jacob's Ladder, Jacobs Ladder, Jamestown, St Helena" on Googles Earth" and you will get a good perspective about it. There is a road that goes to the top also.
 
Going down is definitely the hard part IMHO. Hard on the knees... yes. Fear of rolling/falling down the steps... even scarier.

The Mrs and I climbed the pyramid at Chichen Itza (Mexico, a Myan site). Like those pictured here, we had to crab walk down the steps because they were so steep.
