As Trump continues to win.
Oddly enough, the USA Fencing affiliate USACFC (
U.S. Association of Collegiate Fencing Clubs) has NOT announced a change in its transgender policy.
So the USACFC claims it follows all the eligibility rules of USA Fencing BUT SIMULTANEOUSLY also says it allows transgender fencers. The two positions are mutually exclusive. Pick one, or the other. But can't do both. And if they pick wrong there will be a Federal Title IX violation.
-------- AND, also another conference, the
MIDWEST FENCING CONFERENCE (M.F.C.) violates Title IX laws -------
So my Purdue Fencing Club fencers compete in BOTH the
MFC and the
USACFC collegiate conferences. I do NOT have any decision making authority for the Purdue Fencing Club as my contract specifically states I am a coach, but the students actually are the decision makers for the club. But the President of the Purdue Fencing Club told me the PFC will follow USA Fencing and Olympic Committee rules.
But he also told me that he understands
(2nd hand, so still must be verified) that the
Midwest Fencing Conference will actively IGNORE the Federal Title IX laws, the Executive Order,
and also ignore UNIVERSITY policies that require Title IX rules, for tournaments in the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois and Michigan since those states either have states that do NOT protect (XX) women's sports from males (XY) who self-proclaim a women's 'identity' or they have NO LAW that explicitly protects women's (XX) sports.
I cannot speak for ALL universities, but I did look up some of the universities in the MFC conference.
- It appears they 1) Have a policy that says they will protect & comply with Title IX rules.
- It appears they 2) Have a policy that MANDATES investigations into Title IX complaints.
- It appears they 3) Risk losing Federal education $$$ for willfully violating Title IX rules.
So basically some students at some clubs are risking having their clubs SHUT DOWN by their university because they willfully and intentionally snub their nose at Title IX rules/laws. One would suspect that if a major state university was going to lose SOME, MUCH or ALL of their federal support dollars (that includes federally guaranteed student loans, grand money, research money, etc) then the University has an easy choice of simply SHUTTING DOWN the fencing club instead of using all their funds.
