My dad's first tractor

I finally finished the restoration of my dad's 1956 Farmall 100 , stretched it to long with other projects on the go. Other than my obsession with Bombardier snocats , red tractors are my thing, with four restored and quite a few more candidates on the list to do .I've been wanting to get these pictures, and a month ago it happened, same tractor, same guy, with a 60 year spread between pics ..

Finally got back my dad's International Super W6 TA ,tractor back on the farm yesterday .It's been through 5 owners since we sold it 47 years ago . Lots of memories as a kid on this tractor ,so I guess another tractor restoration will begin in the spring......

Ended up after the oil change replacing the plug wires ,filed the points and hooked up a remote gas tank. 3rd crank it started ,have a couple weak holes , but it cleared up the longer it ran .Went through the gears ,torque and pto worked and the diff was quiet , a good starting point for next year. Just got to check the antifreeze and put her to bed for the winter....inside.... no more outside parking.

Great job! Looks really nice and that's quite a heritage too. I had a 1953 Farmall Super H that I intended to restore but never did. After I priced a set of new tires w/tubes I discovered that I could actually buy another tractor that HAD good tires for the same money! I cleaned it up and repainted it and eventually sold it when I moved to town.

I used it for a number of years but lemme' tell you, they've sure improved tractors over the years. To raise the bucket, you had to shift to neutral, release the clutch (so the hydraulic pump would run) and then raise it up. A real pain when you haf'ta do it a hundred times to get a job done! That's my neighbor, Tom, who passed away just last year. A good friend / great guy.
