Mt Baker

Im going title this thread Mt Baker. Although to start this thread Im going to talk about Skiing Mt Baker there is so much more about Mt Baker to talk about I want to make it easy for others to find and give input. As the season changes I will bring in the back country back packing adventures.

This is our first year for having a seasons pass at Mt Baker and we plan to use our truck and camper to maximize our seasons passes there. The great thing about Mt Baker ski resort is free parking for cars and RV's unlike other un-named ski resorts.

The parking lot is about 3500' at White Salmon lodge parking and maybe 4000' at the upper lot Heater Meadows (if someone knows the exact elevation of Heather Meadows let me know). Last year the parking lots for RV's were well maintained with plowing early in the mornings. Cell phones work but the signal is weak. There are rules about where you park so log onto the Mt Baker website to get the skinny. Don't plan to have a bonfire on the black top areas and pack out your trash you'll fit right in. There is no power hook ups or dump sites plan accordingly.

This weekend we plan to park in the lower parking lot of White Salmon lodge area. The upper parking lot Hearther Medows is about 2.5 miles up the steep curved road. Always carry chains its required and the ticket is not worth it if you get caught without them.

So here we go with the new Mt Baker thread on the FF and hopefully it will bring in some new members. Although the FF is free consider the month of November as a time to donate to the FF. Its simple and easy even 5 bucks makes a difference. I do it by Pay Pal. Let the adventure begin.

I wasn't there but I heard Mt Baker lost a pile of snow last weekend due to the heavy rains. All we can hope for is a better weather pattern.

I didn't know where Mt Baker was. I know, I'm ignorant. I had to find it on Google Earth. I've never been to the north-west, it's a long way from Texas, but it looks to be a beautiful part of the country. I'm looking forward to reading your reports.
