Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament Theater

Cityboy

Went there last night with the family to celebrate my son's 12th birthday. Very entertaining if you have one in your state or travel and have and entertainment expense account.

As the name implies, there is a Medieval theme to the establishment

Here's the web link. Click the "watch out TV commercial: link if it does not star automatically. Pretty cool:

I've not gone to Medieval Times, but we took our daughter to The Tournament of Kings. The concept appears to be the same. I think these are great shows for kids (probably aged 6 to 13). The food, on the other hand, could have been better. If the food was better than a dry piece of roast chicken and soggy green beans at Medieval Times then I can tell you that you are better off at Medieval Times than at The Tournament of Kings.

I only have girls. They would only be happy if the show was about princesses on ponies!

Were there any princesses or ponies at these shows? (sigh)

:(

I just spent an hour last night assembling a toy jeep. Not a cool boys toy jeep but a purple Barbie Jeep.

There are days when I think it would be fun to have a boy. But then I remember what I was like.

I have a daughter, now 15. Cherish those girls PB; they are wonderful and will enrich your life (and break your heart) beyond all comprehension. They can be the most awesome and competetive athletes you have ever seen. My DD plays fast pitch softball and pitches underhanded approaching 60 mph  :D and plays soccer too. Spend the time with them, life is too short and you'll wake up tomorrow and their childhood will be finished before you realize it, and then you'll be a Grandpa.

But I digress; Yes, there are princesses and ponies, Lots of ponies, as well as kinights, squires, magicians and the king. Your girls will love it. Plus there are men in tights for Mrs. PB to check out as well as lots of fine wenches to serve you. :5boobs:

The food was very good. It is served "midievel" style, meaning you have to eat with your hands and no utensils, but don't let that stop you. They have a massive selection of ales and other adult beverages if you so desire. Last night they served very well spiced roasted chicken, ribs, soup, bread, and desert with coffee after dinner. You also get a hot towel to wipe off your fingers and face. The whole event lasts about three hours. A very well coriographed event and a fun nght out for adults and kids.

I have been the the Chicago Medieval Times probably a half dozen times. It is always a fun time. The food is decent, but obviously, you're not going to request a bottle of Veuve Clicquot with your hors d'oeuvres.

The funny part is, I grew up only a few miles from there, and I sometimes see some of the girls I went to High School with working as serving wenches. :yum:

My understanding of the inside story is that it is a real carnival backstage.

I went to the one in Toronto many years ago. It was a good time.

Re. the Barbie Jeep:
Boys will use them too. I have a few of those Power Wheels in both ATV and Jeep style. Regardless of the color of the Jeep, they boys prefer it over the ATV style.
Also - Unless they've changed the style in the past couple years, the batteries will NOT fit for your brake controller. Don't ask how I know... Also, at $60 for the PowerWheels battery vs. $15 to go buy a brake controller battery, it's not financially prudent.
