Kristi KT-2

Hello ,
Recently purchased KT-2 serial #00031 and will be slowly moving towards getting it operational.
Currently has the original engine that is froze up, transmission has a few issues, fiberglass is in need of some repair and needs a few inner tubes .

Possibly located a running 1600 engine, is that a reasonable Swap ?
Looking at kt-3 pictures they seem to have a curved angle iron support around the lower half of the engine bay instead of the wooden/fiberglass support that the kt-2 has.
I have been thinking about doing that instead of replacing the damaged wood?

Does anyone have a source or options for the 6.00-6 tires or tubes ?
Airplane tires are pretty pricey so I have been keeping an eye on eBay for used serviceable units.

I would appreciate any insight or tips anyone has to offer.
Thanks
William

from my personal Kristi experience, buying the best tires saves so many headaches in the backcountry, spend the money where it keeps you from walking out from deep in the woods,

great machine to have, not too many KT2's out there

Thank you , I know that’s a good rule to apply to anything you have to depend on.
I would imagine that goes double when dealing with snow vehicles.
For now I’m just looking to get it backyard functional.
As time and funding allow I would like to eventually make it sound enough to get us into our cabin in the winter.

Just curious if anyone happens to know if the bearings for the transmission are available ?
There has been water intrusion in the case .
The shift rails inside the case are pretty pitted where the forks slide.
The gears are pretty good, but I think it would be a good idea to replace any bearings in the case.

a good bearing warehouse will have any bearing you may ever need, pretty much any and all parts are still available. never have any issues finding stuff, just knowing where to look is priceless

everything in the transmission looks like it will clean up nicely, good glass bead/vapor cabinet is a great investment

good luck with your KT2
