Importing a Tractor

Does anyone have any information on importing a tractor from Europe or Asia? What I am really in need of is info on getting the equipment through customs such as forms or fees?
Please help if you can.

Why would you want to import a tractor from Asia or Europe? I can reccommend a couple good gray market dealers who are fair and do not accept the Vietnam rebuilt tractors. I live on the West side of the mountains in Washington state and know almost all the dealers in Washington and some in Id and Oregon. To independently try and import a tractor from Asia or Europe is almost impossible to do it and how do you know if you get the right tractor?

Look in your local phonebook for "customs agents" and if you are not in an area that has that listing in the phone book, then look in a major city that has a port. There are customs agents in every port city. They will walk you through all the paperwork. The company that managed my transportation also acted as my customs agent, but I filled out paperwork as if they were two different companies.

The customs agent required a reasonably small fee, a small surety bond had to be placed (I think that was $240) and I filled out some papers. It was actually very simple and painless.

As you are on the west coast, I'd check in whatever city you are bringing your unit into port and find a customs agent there.
