I need a quiet muffler !!

BigAl

Gone But Not Forgotten
Any ideas here ? It can't be over 3 1/2 " in diameter . Length should be under 24 " . I was told to take 2 short mufflers and run them in tamden ??? They need to be round too !! Anyone ever done this ??

I need this ASAP . HELPPPPPPP!!!!!!

You didn't say what you were putting them on. Running two in tandem might create too much back pressure and cost you power and fuel economy.

Can ya split the pipe and run two mufflers side-by-side?? It'll split the noise, but your exhaust flow won't be hampered a bit. In fact, it'd be more free flowing.

Just thinking here. Dangerous, I know.

Sorry about that .... Its a VW motor on my Snowcat . 1600 CC . I just don't do LOUD very well .
I don't have room to run 2 side by side .

If you're not too skittish about some sort of modifications, can you pipe the exhaust somewhere where you have room for two side-by-side??

Dual chrome stacks!! :brows:

Hi AL
Do you think this muffler might be the ticket, if so PM me and I'll go out in the barn and get more info if you want:thumb:

BigA wants something similar to the two running up the sides of the windshield on mine. But I believe he is planning on running them along the side(s) of the cab body, right BigA? My cat has a 1500cc engine.

What about a motorcycle muffler?

BoobCat is right . This needs to be functional and also look good . I do not know if the oval style would look that good . I was going to rub them all the way to the back and I still may do that ,but I have a gas tank fill opening on the left side about 1/2 way down . I have a little problem with doing this now because of that . Fire hazard ??????

Hey, Bob,

what is that vehicle on the trailer next to your snocat? MATTRACKS.. Have you been hiding something from us?

Al, TSC (Tractor Supply) just off I-80 in Dixon stocks all the classic tractor mufflers. I saw several with approximately those dimensions. Is there a TSC in Yuba City also?

If you really need those immediately, you might look at their catalog online then phone over there to see if they have what you need in stock.

But those motorcycle mufflers would look a lot nicer.

OK THEY ARE NOW ORDERED !!!!!!!!!
I have to wait as they are on back order until the 24th ,but I figured the 32" inch ones would be quieter . They are chromed so they should look good too !
Thanks EVERYBODY !!!
This site ROCKS !!!!!!!!

They sure do look sharp. I hope they're quiet for you. I've mostly thought a quiet motorcycle was an oxymoron (sort of like government intelligence) :yum: though.

If you need more hush than they allow, stuff a couple of stainless 'pot scrubbers' into the pipe just ahead of them. A long screw through the pipe will hold them in place.

(One of those old tricks from a wasted youth... :rtfm:)
